The weather had been unbearably warm. It had made all work and outings a bit of a chore, but wasn't it always? Dark Pit sighed and leaned over the balcony and stared out at the clouds. The evening was closing in and the cool night time breeze was finally cooling him down a bit. "Phew, that's a relief..."
"Ah, there you are!" Pit called out as he joined the dark angel, "I thought you'd be someplace cool." Dark Pit chuckled, straightening up and stretching. "I was talking with Lady Palutena eailer and she suggested we take the evening off," Pit said happily. "That sounds great. I could use a nice cold bath..." "Baths later, I have the perfect activity!" "Huh, and what's that?" Pit smirked and pulled on his arm, "It's a surprise."

"Do we have to move around?" Dark Pit complained as he was dragged along the hall. "Yes! It'll be worth it, I promise," Pit gave him a big smile and continued dragging him along. Once they reached Pit's room, Pit stopped. "Ok, change into the outfit I put out. I'll be right back," he left without waiting for a reply or argument. Pittoo opened the door and peered inside, the room was pretty much like it always was. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him, noticing a flat box on the bed. "I wonder what he has in mind..." he thought aloud, taking the lid off, "This is..."

Pit struggled with his own outfit. He tried to tie the white Yukata, but it continued to fall down. "Aw man this is harder than tieing my toga..." he complained. "You should have let me help you," Palutena said. "No! Don't come down, I can do it." He started again, taking it off and checking it out again. It was white with red pinwheels. "I hope Pittoo isn't struggling... I think I have it now though," he thought aloud, wrapping it around himself again. "How come you wanted to go to a festival all of a sudden? It's not something you see around here," Palutena asked. "I've always heard about them, the clothes and the stalls and food! I have to see it," he explained, dropping it again. "Need a hand?"

Pit spun around to see Dark Pit standing in the doorway. He was wearing the Yukata Pit had picked out for him. It was black with purple goldfish dotted on it. He walked over and took the side that had fallen. "How did you get it on so quick?" Pit asked, watching him closely. "I...uh...guess I just...know a bit about clothes and stuff like that," he mumbled, fitting the Yukata into place. "I didn't know you liked traditional clothes! Why hide it?"
Dark Pit blushed and crossed his arms, "It just never came up." Pit smiled and hugged onto him, "Thanks! We're all set." "Is that my cue?" Palutena asked. A door appeared in front of them as she said it. "Thanks, Lady Palutena!" "Be safe, and have fun of course." The two angels approached the door. Pit took the dark angel's hand and the stepped through it together.

"Wow~" Pit exclaimed as they stepped into the field beside the festival. "Smell that? That's the festival air!" Pit said through a deep breath. "Is that what it is?" Dark Pit asked, sceptical. He couldn't deny that the cool fresh air was a nice relief. He also took in a deep breath and steadied himself in the new surroundings. "Lets go! I want to get in first in line for all of the food stands," Pit said, pulling the dark angel with him as he hurried along. "Be careful! Don't run in a Yukata," Dark Pit scolded through a laugh. "Whoops!"

Pit jumped from stall to stall while he tried to decide what to get first. "We're trying to blend in here..." Dark Pit sighed, admiring the smell of the yaki soba beside him. "I think I'll try this, will you share-" "Of course! I'll get us these then," Pit interrupted, holding up two candy apples. "Heh, alright."
The two walked side by side while they ate the food they had picked up. "This is delicious! We need to add this to the menu when we get back," Pit said through a mouthful of noodles. "Yeah, the apple is pretty good too," Dark Pit noted, biting off another piece. "Ooo look!" Pit darted off to a stall with a pool of goldfish, "I want one!" Pittoo joined him and took a look. "There's no way Palutena will let you keep a pet." "But-" "Seriously, I'd feel bad for it," Dark Pit teased, nudging him. "That's mean! I'd love my little fish friend." "Pets need more than love..." the dark angel sighed and turned around. "How about that instead?" He asked, pointing to a tower of animal plush toys. Pit gasped and stared up at it, "Look at the giraffe! I want the giraffe." "Yeah, yeah. Lets play the ring toss game and get it then."

Dark Pit eyed the target carefully. "You can do it!" Pit encouraged from behind. "It can't be any harder than handling a bow..." he mumbled to himself. He flung the first ring quickly, and it landed on the floor. "Wha-??" He cleared his throat and adjusted his belt before trying again. "Mr. Plush is on the line, no pressure," Pit whispered. "You already named it-" he intrupted himself with a sigh, "Don't worry I have a feel for it now." He threw the second one and it landed on target. He smirked and handed back the spare ring, "See? Easy, nothing to it." "Amazing!" Pit exclaimed. The man at the stall handed him the plush giraffe. He smiled and placed it in Pit's arms. "Thank you! I love it," Pit squealed, kissing him on the cheek.

Pit furrowed his brow as he concentrated. Dark Pit was watching him while holding onto the giraffe. "Ah! Got it!" Pit exclaimed, jumping up with a pink balloon on a string. He stood up and handed it to Pittoo. "Huh?" "Well you gave me this, so I wanted to win you something." As they traded items, Dark Pit admired the balloon. "Thanks," he smiled and took Pit's free hand. "Let's go find a place to watch the fireworks from."

The pair walked hand in hand up the forest path. "Do you think we'll see them all the way up here?" Pit asked. "Yeah, I'm sure we will." As they approached the top, they noticed a lot of other people gathering around the same spot. "Hmm..." Dark Pit paused and looked around. "What's wrong?" Pit asked, turning around to see why he had stopped. "Let's try this way, there will be less people," the dark angel whispered, pointing to an overgrown path hidden in the brush. Pit nodded and followed his lead.
It was much harder to climb, but the  view was much better on this part of the mountain. "Woah...Look how high up we are!" Pit exclaimed, peering over the edge. "Careful, your wings are covered..." Dark Pit warned, sitting down on the ground. Pit skipped back and sat beside him. "Thanks for this." "Hmm?" "It was a nice break..." the dark angel mumbled, resting his head on Pit's shoulder. Pit smiled, but before he could reply, an explosion of colour covered the sky in front of them. They watched in awe as the fireworks formed all sorts of shapes. The loud noise vibrated in their stomachs. Dark Pit closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the festival air and smiled to himself. Without another word, the two angels closed off the night in each other's arms under a colourful sky.
