Pit couldn't believe what he was seeing. He gripped the paper tighter and read each word carefully again.
'Hey Pitty, bro! It's been awhile but I'm finally back in town. I didn't have your # or your address (weird right?) So I hope you get this. Ha. We should totally meet up or something. Catch up, maybe even date abit IDK. K cool. -Py!'
"Pitty. Py... how is he back from college already?!" Pit dropped the letter and held his forehead. Py, aka Pyrrhon, aka Pit's ex from a few years back. He was always following Pit around and pestering him with love letters. He finally caved in the last year of high school and dated him for no more than two weeks. They had left for different colleges, leaving the relationship at that. But now, he was returning at the worst possible time imaginable.Pit tried to keep his mind of things while he waited for Dark Pit's shift to end. He figured he would never bump into Pyrrhon again. "He doesn't know my number or house... I'll just ignore the letter," he thought, nodding to himself. He leaned against the outside wall of the store, putting his hands in his pockets. The air was definitely getting colder, and he wished he had brought a heavier coat. "Sorry for the wait!" A voice sounded suddenly. Dark Pit dashed out the door and joined him, "Can't wait to get the hell out of here." Pit smiled and stood up straight, "Let's get going then!" Dark Pit nodded and followed him. The nearest Cafe was only across the road. Pit opened the door and held it open for his date. The smell of fresh coffee and baking lifted Pit's spirit a bit. He approached the cashier and ordered the drinks before joining Dark Pit at the table he had chose.
Pit stared down at the mug in his hands, as hard as he tried not to, his kind kept racing. "What's wrong?"
"Huh?" He jumped a little and looked at Dark Pit, he was glaring at him. "Oh n-nothing!" Pit smiled and took one of the cookies he had almost forgotten about. "That's an obvious lie. What's wrong?" He had a serious expression, it was making Pit feel even more on edge. He sighed and looked away, "I...uh got a letter." "A letter?" "Yeah, from my...um," "This can only end badly." "Well...my-" "Pitty!" Pit's jaw dropped, he felt like it must have hit the table. He spun around to see none other than the author of the letter himself, Pyrrhon. He practically skipped over, placing both hands on the table and getting uncomfortably close. "I've been looking all over you!" He said with a large grin. He was much taller than Pit, with fiery red hair that almost stood on end. "Uh, Hello?" Dark Pit raised an eyebrow, blissfully unaware of the storm that was about to hit. "I- uh- I- um-" "Hi, I'm Pyrrhon! Pit's really close friend, you know, haha," he nudged Dark Pit's arm with a wink. Dark Pit recoiled and sent Pit a cold stare."Someone kill me..." Pit thought, clearing his throat and sitting up straight. "Ah, s-stop kidding around, Pyrrhon. Dark Pit, this is um... an old friend of mine," Pit's voice was much higher pitched than usual. Pyrrhon rested his arm on Pit's shoulder and nodded. Dark Pit gripped his mug tightly, "An old friend, huh?" Pit gently pushed Pyrrhon away and laughed awkwardly. "We're kinda in the middle of something...so..." "Did you get my letter?" Pyrrhon ignored his hint completely. "Y-yeah, sorry I didn't get back to you right away," Pit tried not to look at him, his smile the cause of all of this in the first place. He always pestered Pit to spend time with him by flashing a huge smile. It was hard to say no to him, and Pit always ended up just going along with it. "No worries, we can catch up when we're hanging out," He exclaimed, pulling a chair from the nearby table and sitting right beside him. "Dark Pit and I are kinda on a...um...so if you could-" "We're on date so get lost."
"Dark Pit-" "Aw man, am I intruding?" Pyrrhon rubbed the back of his head and laughed it off. He backed up slowly and waved goodbye, only to sit at another table. Pit lowered his head into his coffee. "Pit, what the hell is going on?" Dark Pit asked, whispering a bit too loudly. "I-I'll explain outside, let's go!" He replied, standing up suddenly, almost dashing out of the door. Dark Pit was stunned by the sudden plan, pausing before running after him. "Bye! See you later!" Pyrrhon called after them, completely oblivious.
"I can't believe this," Pit mumbled with his hands over his face. "What-" "Before you say anything!" Pit looked straight at him as they walked, "We only dated for like two weeks, and I was kinda forced into it..." Dark Pit let out a relieved sigh. "That's makes sense. I can see that he doesn't take hints." "He's so-" "stupid?" "I was going to say oblivious..." Pit chuckled and looked forward, trying to forget all about it. "Oh- you forgot your coat." Pit looked down, confirming that his coat was missing. "I must have left it on the chair..." They looked at each other and silently agreed it wasn't worth it.
Pit jumped as a raindrop hit him in the face. Before long, they we're running from a heavy shower. "We'll get soaked if we run to yours, mine's closer," Dark Pit shouted over, grabbing Pit's hand and guiding him to his house.A/N Pyrrhon is a little out of character, but it's an AU so let's roll with it. 🌱
