Pit paced his room impatiently. A nervous sweat had formed on his brow. He was waiting for word from Palutena. His heart raced, his mind jumping to ridiculous conclusions. "Why isn't he here yet?" He thought, running his hand through his hair. "I knew I should have went with him... it's my fault-" "Pit?" He jumped at the sound of his own name. "Lady Palutena! Is he-" "He's fine, he's just arrived outside," she reassured. Pit felt a weight lift off his shoulder as he sprinted down the corridor.
He ran into centurions as they went about their business. He didn't have time to apologise right now, he needed to see him. He burst through the front doors. Leaning up against the Lightning Chariot was his husband, Dark Pit. Pit felt his eyes well up with happy and relieved tears. He dashed forward and fell into him without hesitation. "Woah! Nice to see you too," Dark Pit said, laughing as he caught Pit. "You said you wouldn't be long!" Pit whined, rubbing his face into the dark angel's chest. Dark Pit smiled and patted his head rhythmically, "It was only two weeks. Come on, let's go inside. I have present."
Pit held Dark Pit's hand as they walked back through the main door. "What's the present?" Pit asked enthusiastically. Dark Pit was carrying the bag he had brought with him. "Have some patience," he sighed. Pit pouted. They stopped at the throne room, where Palutena was waiting. "Welcome back," she said happily. "Uh, thanks," he rubbed the back of his neck, "It was nothing." "You could have called for backup," Palutena noted. "Yeah! I would have come and help right away," Pit told him, holding onto his arm with both hands. Dark Pit smiled and kissed his forehead. "I was able to do a better job knowing you were safe," he whispered.
"Aw come on!" Pit whined and kicked his legs impatiently. Dark Pit sighed and placed the bag down on Pit's bed, "Alright, alright, but close your eyes first." "But-" "Just do it!"
Pit reluctantly closed his eyes. He heard Dark Pit moving around, and his curiosity grew. He heard the movement stop right in front of him. He suddenly felt a hand on his cheek, and his eyes shot open. He looked up at the dark haired angel. He was smiling down at him, a small box in his other hand.
"Here," he said simply, placing it gently in his hands. Pit looked down at it, slowly removing the lid. "Oh!" He gasped at the contents. "I know it's a bit late," Dark Pit picked up the gold ring that sat inside, "but I think you deserve something special." He placed the ring on Pit's left hand. Pit stared in in awe at the beautiful ring, it was hand engraved with their wedding date. Pit felt tears well up in his eyes, "Pittoo..." Dark Pit kissed him gently, interlocking their fingers on that hand. "Y-you didn't have to-" The dark angel shook his head, "I know, but I wanted to.... because I love you."
Pit smiled as he lay in Dark Pit's arms. They had been lying and talking for hours. The orange glow of sunset began to fade, and the room grew darker. Dark Pit had fallen asleep, and was snoring quietly. The rhythmic noise was calming. Pit closed his eyes and gripped the sleeping angel's hand tighter. He hadn't let go, and he didn't plan to any time soon. "I'm never letting you go," he whispered, looking down at the ring on his finger, "Because I love you."
