"Have you ever realized how annoying ___ is as soon as summer ends?" Ned asked.

Peter, who had just been admiring his girlfriend from afar as she helped Liz tape posters for the school's Halloween dance, turned his head towards his best friend, eyebrows pulled together and lips turned downward into a surprised frown.

"Annoying? What do you mean?"

"Well, no offense to you, dude, but she never shuts up about fall. It's always pumpkin something. Coffee, desserts... and look at her! She's wearing a pumpkin sweater. It's the eleventh and she's wearing a giant orange sweater with a pumpkin face on the front."

It was true. From the first day of October on, you would exclusively think and talk about fall. There were some moments in which he would get tired of it. There were only so many loaves of pumpkin bread you could send to his apartment, right?

But he never thought about stopping you. You liked fall the way he liked Star Wars. There was always a month of hype and excitement. If you could live with a month of theories, marathons, and late night ticket purchases, surely he could have another Halloweentown movie night.

But Star Wars hype didn't involve weeks of pumpkin flavored dessert that hurt Peter's stomach and made him gain a bunch of weight after one bite.

"Dude," Peter said, shaking his head. He was the boyfriend, he had to protect his girlfriend. "Don't be mean to her. She's just excited. Besides, I think it's cute."

"It'll stop being cute real fast," Ned assured him. "Tell me, Pete, how many times has she made you watch Hocus Pocus this month?"

"Three times," he said, "but it's her favorite. And last week, we watched all of the Halloweentown movies."

"My point still stands," he said. He shook his head. "It's not even halfway through the month and I'm already tired of Halloween just by looking at her. Now I know how she feels about us in December when we're living on Star Wars hype. Good luck, Peter. You'll be watching nothing but Disney Channel Halloween movies until November."
