The entire point of you not dating around was because you were waiting for your husband. Everyone said it was stupid, but you didn't think it was. Why date anyone but the one you're meant to be with? And in the end, it was worth it, because you met Peter Parker and fell in love with him within seconds. And he fell in love with you, too.
Everything was perfect. Your relationship was full of happiness and understanding and love, and Peter treated you like you knew girls should be treated by their boyfriends. You knew, and he knew - that you both were meant to be.
And so you acted the same as husband and wife, because that's what you would be one day. There was no doubt in your mind.
But Peter was busy now that he was Spider-Man, and seeing him often was harder than what it used to be. It was more than that, though. He had grown increasingly more popular in his senior year of high school. Meanwhile, you weren't noticed by anyone.
And sometimes that bothered you.
Today, you walked towards the gym. You always met Peter outside of the boys lockeroom and he would walk you home before going around the city as Spider-Man.
You heard his laugh on the other side of the wall. You smiled to yourself, thinking of how much you adored that sound. As you turned the corner that would lead straight to the lockerooms, you stopped.
Because Peter wasn't laughing with Ned, as you assumed, but a blonde girl. You recognized her. It was Gwen Stacy, popular and perfect.
But that isn't what bothered you. You weren't jealous of her. What bothered you was how right he looked with her. He looked happy.
