Peter knew what Tony Stark was doing in his apartment the moment he saw him.
He also knew his answer.
No.
"No," he said as soon as Mr. Stark had closed the bedroom door behind them.
Tony stood at the end of his room, crossing his arms over his chest. He huffed, his black eye wincing before he rubbed a spot on his forehead.
"That easy, huh?" he asked, stress clear in his voice.
"Yes," he said. "Yes - s-sir. I'm sorry, but - I'm not who you think I am."
"You're not?" He lifted his eyebrows, unconvinced.
"No, sir," he answered.
Tony sighed. He held up his phone and turned it on. A holographic image of a boy in a red suit swinging and stopping a bus played. "So this isn't you?"
"Wha- no," Peter lied. "No. No way."
"No? Oh," he said, clearlynot buying a word of it. "So if I was to, say, recruit this hero for a super special secret mission, they - whoever they are - and certainly not you - would say no?"
"I-I don't know," he said. "But y-yeah, no, uh, that's not me-"
At the same time Peter spoke, Tony reached up and tugged the thin rope hanging from his ceiling. A flash of red and blue clothing fell before Peter lunged for it, stuffing it into his closet as quickly as possible.
