Ned couldn't help but stare at you from across the room in detention. He couldn't help but admire the way you looked, even though you were bored and pouty. How he had managed to get such a pretty girl to be his best friend, he wasn't sure.

Your eyes shifted from the TV screen where Captain America was lecturing them to Ned, who didn't have time to be embarrassed by how he got caught staring. You stuck your tongue out at him, making him grin.

He looked at the clock. Ten more minutes of this.

It was his fault you got detention, too. It was supposed to be a friendly prank on Peter, just the stuffing of twenty or more sandwich wrappers in his locker, since he never cleaned up after himself and you and Ned had collected many of them off your bedroom floors, your parents' cars, and on your coffee tables.

The kid ate way too many sandwiches from Delmar's, and since he never cleaned up his mess, it was time to get him back.

Ned agreed that, if you did all of the work, he would he a lookout. Of course, he screwed up, getting distracted by your face that was twisted up all in concentration as you broke into Peter's locker, the hall quiet because everyone was in class. He looked away for three seconds and the principal was behind them, scolding them for breaking into another student's locker, ignoring their tries at explanations.

But you weren't really mad at him. He was your best friend, and this was another memory you'd cherish in the long run. For now, you could stick with being a little annoyed that you weren't stuffing your face with a pizza sub and watching Wonder Woman with Ned and Peter as originally planned.

Finally, after ten long minutes, you and Ned were free to go. He came up to you as you gathered your stuff silently.

"Dude, I'm sorry," he said.

"Are you?" you asked playfully.

"Yes! Please don't try and get me back. I don't think I can handle another hour in this room with Captain America spewing nonsense at us."
