"What you need is a break." Sophitz

a_graceful_soul requested a Sophitz oneshot with them dating, so here it is! I hope you enjoy it! As always, feel free to comment or PM me requests, and I'd be happy to write it! :)

"Hey, Soph," Fitz said, coming into her room and sitting down on the bed next to her. She mumbled a monosyllabic response, not looking up from her textbook.

"How are you?" he asked, kissing her hair.

"Mmm."

"Excuse me?"

"Uh-huh."

"Sophie, are you listening to me?"

"Hah."

Slowly, he pushed the cover of her book closed, much like one of Linh's many cats. Finally, she responded to him.

"Fitz!"

"Hi."

"I was studying!"

"Yes, but you've been doing that nonstop for weeks."

"Well, I need to! My photographic memory only helps so much!"

"What you need is a break."

Sophie rolled her eyes. Fitz scooted closer next to her on the bed, wrapping his arms around her. "Will you take a break with me now?"

"Fitz," she said, a bit exasperated.

He pulled her into his lap, pushing a rebellious strand of hair behind her ear.

"Please?"

She sighed dramatically. "Fine."

He grinned. He kissed her, long, soft and deep.

He had kissed her tons of times. They had been dating for over a month. But every time he touched her, every time he cocked his head and grinned at her, every time he whispered sweet nothings in her ear, her heart—well, you'd think it would speed up, but instead it settled into a steady, easy beat. A beat that felt right, as if everything in the universe was perfectly aligned at that very second. She felt complete in these moments, complete in a way she never had before. It wasn't just the excruciating crush she had had since they first met, it was something...different. Something more solid.

She pressed back into his lips, tangling her hands in his hair. He wrapped his arms tighter around her waist, forcing her even closer into him. Finally, they pulled apart, breathless and absolutely happy in every sense of the word.

I love you.

Neither of them had said it before, but it felt so right, so true, that it didn't come as a surprise at all to Fitz when Sophie transmitted the three words to him.

I love you, too, he transmitted without missing a beat.

After a moment of looking into each other's eyes, Sophie rolled over and grabbed her textbook, opened it to the page she had been on before, and continued studying.

Fitz just shook his head in awe. "I can't believe you," he whispered under his breath.
