At first Sophie just stood there, and Fitz was afraid she wouldn't kiss him back. He started to panic. Was he going to fast? What if she didn't like him back at all? Finally, though, she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned into him. He moved his arms down to around her waist, lifting her up slightly for a moment.

Her lips were as soft as he'd imagined, and they tasted slightly sweet, like strawberries. (A/N I know that's not an elven fruit, but I wanted something that would be recognizable to you guys. Plus, elves have to have some of the same fruits as humans, right?) Her hair smelled like Panakes blossoms, and his hands fit perfectly into the small of her back. After they broke apart, she rested her head against his chest, one hand lightly on his arm, the other curled against his chest. He whispered softly into her hair, "I am so sorry. I really care about you, and I didn't know what to do with those feelings, so I reacted by pushing you away. By being angry. And that's because I'm an idiot."

"You're not an idiot."

"I am," he insisted.

"No, you're not. Because if you are, then so am I. We all are. Because when we like what we have, we do everything we can to keep it, even if we want something more. Even if it kills us that they don't know that we care. Even if it kills us that we can't kiss them, we can barely touch them, and we can never tell them. Because if we do, we risk scaring them away, and losing them. And without them, we don't know what to do with ourselves. So we play a stupid game, not telling them, even though it's the not telling that kills us the most."

Fitz remained silent for a moment. What could he say? Sophie always had such a way with words. Finally, he transmitted, I love you.

I love you too.

I love you more, he teased, playfully hitting her shoulder.

"I love you most," she whispered aloud, before slowly moving her hands down near his waist, her fingertips ready to tickle him.

He caught her wrists. "Don't you dare," he said, looking into her eyes. He couldn't stop smiling, though.
