"Mom!" (Kinda open-ended ship-wise but not really)

When Sophie got home, a scroll was waiting for her on her bed. Her breath caught in her throat.

She had decided to register for Matchmaking a year ago, and this must be her first list. She dropped her bag to the floor, unrolling the paper. "Mom!"

Edaline came up the stairs as quickly as she could. She looked over her daughter's shoulder, reading the list of matches. Sophie didn't recognize any of the names except the top four.

"I–" Sophie didn't know how to put it into words. Edaline just nodded, putting her arm around her shoulders.

4. Tam Song

She had never thought about him that way but maybe . . .

"Remember that this doesn't change how you feel," Edaline told her, as if she knew what she was thinking.

Sophie nodded. Of course it didn't.

3. Dexter Dizznee

That had already been ruled out years ago. She moved her eyes up to the next row.

She had known for a while how he felt about her, even if she wouldn't admit it to herself. If she was being completely honest with herself, not that she ever was, it was not one-sided.

After taking a deep breath, she let herself read the top line.

She froze, unsure how she felt. Sure, she had had a crush on him for like three years, but not as much recently. But he was her top match . . .

"This may echo how you feel, or it may be completely wrong. The Matchmakers don't really take personal feelings into consideration. What's much more important than who's on your list is that you're happy."

Sophie nodded. She knew who she would pick.

I kind of like the idea of ending it like this. I like this sort of implied ending. If you guys want a part two, though, I'll do one. Have an awesome day/night/whatever! (Or don't; I won't tell you what to do.)
