"One day." Sophie and Dex

heeyitsm requested a oneshot about Sophie and Dex's friendship, so I hope you enjoy! As always, feel free to comment or PM me requests! <3

For the first time since they had defeated the Neverseen, Sophie had a chance to hang out with Dex. He had come over to Havenfield, and he had brought a couple gadgets he had recently made. He talked about them passionately, but Sophie was completely confused with his descriptions.

He stopped mid-sentence as he was describing the inner mechanisms of one of his machines. "Sorry. I forgot you wouldn't understand this because you're not a Technopath."

"One day," Sophie joked. The Collective had hinted that she might manifest more abilities, and it had become a joke between all her friends that she would one day manifest every ability.

Dex grinned. "Until then, I can show you."

"What do you mean?"

He grinned mysteriously, picking up one of the gadgets littering Sophie's flowered rug.

"What does that one do? Dex?"

He said nothing, instead zapping her with a laser. Sophie shrieked and jumped up, running from the room. Dex chased her.

"You've been spending too much time with Keefe!" Sophie called over her shoulder.

The two spent the afternoon chasing each other around the yard, just like when they were twelve (A/N Even though Sophie was actually thirteen.).
