When we last left our trainers they had just returned back to Petalburg City to face Norman (Max's Dad) in a Gym battle. As usual Kim and Max are up early before the others. Max's dad is about to have a tough conversation with Max. As we all know when Max joined our journey he was told he could join the journey on one condition.
Norman: So Max how have you been?
Max: I have been doing great dad! I have captured many different Pokémon! I have also gained new friends and new knowledge that only trainers can gain by going on their own adventures.
Norman: that's wonderful!
Kim: hey Max want to go train some with me while we wait for Jonathan and Kris to wake up?
Max: yes totally! Me and my Pokémon need to work together to become more of a team! I haven't trained them near as much as you and Kris have. Let's go!
Norman: hold it son, I am not finished talking with you yet!
Max: oh ok dad, Kim go ahead and train some and I'll meet you out there after we are finished talking.
Kim: ok then, see you out there.
Kim goes to train her Pokémon.
Kim: huh these are all to weak for training purposes what shall I do?
Suddenly a trainer approaches Kim.
Trainer: you looking for a challenge Champion?
Kim: how do you know that I am a Champion?
Trainer: oh I know that you are by the way you look! You are the champion of the Kanto region and the Johto Region.
Kim: that's right!
Trainer: I also know that your name is Kim.
Kim: yeah that's my name all right. What do you want?
Trainer: I want your Titles!
Kim: not going to happen!
Kim brings out a Pokéball. So does the other trainer.
Trainer: the name is Ace! And this is my Partner Arceus.

Out of the pokéball comes a legendary Pokémon, Kim had never seen before and had only heard about in books and in her dreams.
Ace: all right one on one no substitutions. Tell you what Trainer, if I win I get your Titles, and if you win I'll give you this Pokémon and it's special items.
Kim: I normally don't take challenges like this without notification from the final four members, however, I'm feeling extremely lucky today, your on!
Kim brings out her Belteon to battle the normal Arcus.
Ace: what's this Pokémon, I've never seen this one before?
