The school was huge. There were kids standing in front of it talking to their friends they probably haven't seen since the summer, kids being dropped off by their parents, boys on bikes and skate boards.

"Try to have a good day at school, ok." Mom said giving me a kiss on my forehead.

"Mom I'm not a kid anymore." I said.

" I know you'll be sixteen September 25th but you will always be my baby." Mom said. I got out of the car.

"Have a good day at work." I said. I walked away from the car to look up at the school. I took a deep breath, ok Gabriella you can do this. Try not to bring attention to yourself and get through the rest of your high school years with no problem. I walked up to the school but I had a strange feeling I was being watched. I hurriedly walked into the school making my way to the office. There was an old woman sitting at a desk.

"May I help you?" She said.

"My name is Gabriella Scott, I'm new to this school and wanted to know about my schedule." I said. The lady went through the stack of papers she had on her desk.

"Everyone else received their schedules when they registered for school but because your mother signed you up ahead of time, you weren't able to get your schedule." She said handing it to me.

"Thank you." I said.

"Welcome to Deadwood High Ms. Scott." She said giving me a friendly smile. I walked out of the office. Let's see English is first, Algebra, Biology, United States history, lunch, Spanish, Computer Science, and last Health. Well that doesn't seem so bad. At the top of the paper was my locker number and code to get in. I'll find my locker later after I received my books. The bell ranged so I headed to homeroom. I was the first one there when I walked in so I sat at a desk that was all the way in the back. The teacher was writing her lesson plan on the board when she turned around to look at me.

"Good morning, are you ready to start the new school year." She said.

"Not really since I'm new here." I said.

"Oh, that's right you're the new girl in town that just moved here. Your mother is the new chief of staff of our hospital." The teacher said.

"Yeah she is." I told her.

"My name is Mrs. McCall, welcome to Deadwood." she said as I shook her hand. She looked at me with wide eyes before taking her hand from mine. Well that was weird. She must have seen my confusion she just smiled at me before heading up to the front. Students were piling into the class now. I sat lower in the seat so nobody would notice me. A redheaded girl came and sat at a desk next to me.

"Hello, my name is Savannah Roberts." She said.

"Gabriella Scott." I told her.

"Are you the new girl in town everyone is buzzing about." Savannah said. Maybe that's why I felt like everyone was staring at me.

"Yeah I guess." I said with my head on the desk.

"Good morning students, my name is Mrs. McCall and I'm your homeroom teacher. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer vacation. Now for this week only, you will be coming here every morning before starting your classes. So think of this as being a free period before school where you can get homework done and find out what is going on during the course of the school year. Now I know everyone hates this but since we will be seeing each other for a week, I would like for everyone to introduce themselves. Let's start with Gabriella since she is our new student." Mrs. McCall said looking at me. Every student turned to look at me.

"My name is Gabriella Scott, I just moved here from Texas. My mom is a doctor and my dad is a lawyer." I said.

"That's great, short and sweet, now who's next." Mrs. McCall said. Twenty minutes later everyone was finished introducing themselves when the bell rung.
