Okay so I don't know how many people are actually reading this story but if you made it this far then I guess it means you like the story and I would like to say thank you for at least reading it. Any mistakes I made is my own and I try to catch them before I publish a chapter.
"Hey, I found something interesting when I looked at the case files again about your grandfather." Spencer said. We were all sitting at a lunch table that was farther away from the crowd at lunch.
"What did you find?" I asked.
"Remember how we said that your grandfather got a deal for thirty years instead of the death penalty." she said and I nodded my head. " well I may have a theory about what that deal could have been. You see at the time your grandfather had a major seat on the council and soon it was time to elect a new mayor. At the time Mayor Hale was an up and coming lawyer who took on the case. Your grandfather had the final say about the candidates for mayor. Now in this community being mayor is one step up until you reach what the Blackwoods are to this community."
"What are they to this community?" I asked.
"Think of them as king and queen if you will. They have majority of the power so they have the final say." Emily said.
"My theory is, when your grandfather was seeing the death penalty Hale struck a deal for the candidacy for mayor. At the time Hale was young so having a young mayor was very unlikely." Spencer said.
"So in other words on my grandfather's expense Hale became mayor." I said. She nodded her head.
"All of this for power." Jack said.
"Yup it seems like it." Savannah said.
"Then I should definitely talk to my grandfather. Maybe he can shed some light on Hale." I said.
When school was over I went back sorting through my birth mother's things. There has to be something in here about her past in Deadwood. I looked in a box to see a letter that was written to her by Lionel Amador.
Dear Nina,
I just wanted to tell you that I love you baby girl and that you might hear things about me that's just not true. When you left to protect yourself and my grandchild things have gotten worse. Your mother Adaline was killed and I'm being blamed for her death. I need you to know that I did not kill your mother. I would never lay a hand on her. You know I loved her dearly. She was sweet, kind, had a big heart and loved everyone. I was framed sweetheart and I may know by who. I am writing to tell you not to come back to Deadwood. I fear that whoever killed your mother would hurt you and your unborn child too. Please stay safe my darling girl. I hope to one day see you again. Love, Dad
I wiped my tears from my eyes. Spencer's theory might be correct. My grandfather was framed and the person that killed my grandmother may have also killed my mom. I don't think I can wait another minute to see my grandfather. I have to see him now. I grabbed everything that I needed to show him proof of who I am. Grabbed the picture of my mother and me when we was in the park. I grabbed my phone to call Nathaniel.
"Hey Nathaniel its me. Do you think you have time to come to my house. I changed my mind about meeting my grandfather tomorrow, I want to see him today." I told him.
During the car ride I read the letter to Nathaniel to get his take on it.
" Your friend was right. Your grandfather was framed but by who." He said.
"I don't know but hopefully today he could tell me." I said. We were out of town I'm guessing by the amount of trees I see.
"How far away is this prison? I asked.
