Chapter 7

I was the last one to arrive at Emily's.

"What took you so long?" Savannah asked.

"I was talking to my mom about the birthday party. She would like to get together with you about the decorations." I told her.

"Alright." she said.

"Gang's all here what did you find out." Donovan said. Before Emily could say a word Nathaniel jumped through the window landing on his feet making Savannah and Spencer screamed in surprise.

"I don't remember inviting you Ashford or that you can just jump through my window like that." Emily said.

"Don't worry he does it all the time." I said.

" I heard you guys had more information about the mayor." He said leaning against the wall.

"I'm not going to tell you anything since you blabbed to Britney about Gabriella's grandfather." Emily said.

"I didn't blab to Britney. I don't even like the girl. I think Britney overheard her father talking about Gabriella's grandfather. If you remembered correctly he was his lawyer." Nathaniel said.

"Not a very good one. Gabriella's grandfather still ended up in jail. I never want him as my lawyer." Jack said.

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I did some digging and had this tech guy I know in town looking up things for me. Apparently Hale failed the bar to become a lawyer." Emily said.

"If he failed the bar then he would be practicing law illegally, which means he couldn't possibly be anyone's lawyer. So how did he become a lawyer for my grandfather." I said.

"In middle school my class took a trip to the mayor's office where we saw his license on the wall. Are you telling us that it's fake?" Donovan asked.

"No it's real. My guy gave me a scanner that I could use to scan the license so it would show up on his computer. The day before yesterday I went to the mayor's office on the assumption of finding out any town events I could partake in. When he wasn't in the office I took down his license to scan it. My guy confirmed it was real but he got it the year he failed the bar. To retake the bar you must wait a year but Hale found a way around that." Emily said.

"You can't find a way around it. It's a state exam." Nathaniel said.

"You could if you was blackmailing someone." I said.

"First of all it's a state exam. You would have to blackmail the state just to pass the bar." Trey said.

"You could blackmail whoever is in charge of the testing. Hale must have found out who was watching over to blackmail them." Nathaniel said.

"I was coming to that actually. There was a lawyer named Brad Johnson that was monitoring the test. Somehow Hale was able to get into the test and take it. At the end Brad found out that Hale failed it the first time and was going to report him but Hale had something on him." Emily said. "my tech guy Ryan did some digging and hacked into the mayor's personal computer. There are pictures and videos of Brad Johnson with another woman that wasn't his wife."

"So this Brad guy was having an affair. How did Hale find out." Spencer said.

"He stalks people." Nathaniel said.

"What do you mean by that?" Savannah asked.

"He's been stalking Gabriella ever since she came here." Nathaniel said.

"Why has he been stalking you?" Savannah asked.

"At first I thought it was because my family was new in town and he wanted to find out if I was going to cause any trouble. But seeing how my parents are from here and so are my biological mother, father, and grandparents, I would say I'm no longer a threat. But thanks alot for telling me you guys turn into wolves at night." I said.
