It was the day before my birthday and truth be told there was a limo waiting for me and my friends after school. The boys wanted to ride as well but I told them we were doing girly things today.
"Fine you girls do girl stuff, we will do boys stuff then tomorrow how about we take a ride in the limo. Could you do that for us, let us ride in the limo." Donovan said sticking his bottom lip out.
"How about we all meet at my house Saturday before the party so we could all ride together." I said. They nodded their head in excitement. The driver of the limo held the door open for us as me, Savannah, Spencer, and Emily climbed in. The door was shut behind us and we were off to the bakery. When we got there, the place was empty.
"Spencer why is it empty?" I asked, but a women that looked like the older version of Spencer interrupted.
"Hello, my name is Regina, Spencer's mom. I closed the bakery for this special occasion." She said.
"You didn't have to close your bakery for it." I told her. She moved her hand dismissively.
"Don't worry about it, I'm glad to be doing this." She said. A girl came out with a platter of food. There were different kinds of finger food in the meat variety and some other things I didn't know. We all taste tested each entree of food and decided on finger sandwiches, chicken wings, mini frittatas, chicken skewers, shrimp bruschetta, smoked salmon canapes, roast beef canapes, pot stickers, crab cakes, lamb chops, mini pizzas, and tacos.
"Whew I am stuff. I don't think I can eat anymore." I said.
"Oh there's more. Spencer told me that your mother is doing the cake so I was thinking of a candy table with all sorts of candy that match the color of the theme along with a chocolate fountain, cheesecakes, cake pops, and fruit smoothies. With the chocolate fountain I'll add strawberries, pineapples, apples, marshmallows, peanuts, and almonds just about all things you can cover chocolate with." Regina said.
"Thank you Mrs. Moore, everything is perfect." I said.
"Thank you, I'll make sure to set everything up at 6 before the party." Mrs. Moore said, as her and her assistant started to clean up.
"Gabriella it's time to go to the salon." Savannah said.
"Thank you again Mrs. Moore." I said heading out the door.
"No problem at all, anything for the Blackwoods!" She yelled back when the door was closing which stopped me in my tracks. Blackwoods, I'm adopted so technically I'm not a Blackwood but my father is which I'm still upset that they didn't tell me or better yet lie and said their last name was Scott. I bet that's what my parents and the Blackwoods were talking about during the visit. I was in the limo with the girls heading to the salon.
"Gabriella what's wrong, you seem so far away?" Spencer said.
"It's nothing just thinking about something but I'm fine." I said with a smile in my face.
"Girls we're here let's get beautified." Savannah said in excitement. We went into the salon and was greeted by the receptionist that quickly put us ahead before anybody else.
"Uh miss, you didn't have to do that, we could have waited. Our appointment is not until 5." I told her.
"There's no worries, we knew you would be coming in and it was ordered for us to get you in as soon as possible." She said.
"Ordered by who?" I asked but she didn't get a chance to answer because the preparations for my hair and nails went under way.
I was finally home after getting my nails done to match the color of my dress, I had gotten a Brazilian blow out, but it's not done so the hair stylist will come tomorrow with the make up crew to get me ready for the party. I haven't spoken to my grandfather after visiting him since a few weeks ago. I need to find a way to see him without Hale knowing. I heard the front door opening so I went back downstairs.
"Gabriella your hair looks wonderful, did you girls enjoy the salon?" Mom asked.
"Yes we did actually and the food is all set for the party." I said.
"That's wonderful, the cake is finished, the decorations are all up. Everything is finished all you have to do is show up." She said.
"Well I'm glad everything is done. Oh by the way all of my friends would be meeting here at my house to ride in the limo. I know it's going to be us and my friends but again why does everything has to be big." I said.
"Well because in this town whatever milestone someone is celebrating the whole town tries to make it special. I know you sent out invitations but that's more like a VIP thing. Everyone from your school and parents are going to be there. So that's why we hired a limo." She said.
"Basically the town is crashing my party." I said.
"I wouldn't look at it that way. I would say people are happy to enjoy the day with you to celebrate your birthday." She said. Great so Britney and her friends will still come even if I didn't invite them. So after talking about me in school they would still come to my birthday party. The only reason they are coming is for the party not for me. They don't really care if it's my birthday. The front door opened and dad walked in.
"Hey dad." I said.
"Hey Gabriella, I'm glad you're home because now we can go back to the discussion we had earlier about you not telling us about you going to see Lionel." He said sitting at the table.
"I thought it was no big deal. I was digging in my mom's stuff when I came across his name. I thought if I can talk to him maybe he knows something about who was after my mother." I said.
"The police said it was an animal attack." Mom said.
"Mom do you really believe that. We live in a town where everyone turns into a werewolf. Do you think my mom's death was a random animal attack?" I said. Mom and dad looked at each other.
"You two knew it couldn't have been. What do you know?"I said.
"Honestly sweetheart we don't know why your mother was killed or who would have done it. We didn't know her." Mom said. My blood was boiling at this point.
"Stop lying mom of course you knew her. You both did. Me and my friends went to the library to find yearbook pictures of my mom. Do you want to know what we found." I said looking between both of them. Dad has gone pale and my mom eyes were wide in surprise.
"We found a picture of you two and my mom together, also a picture of you and her back to back captioned best friends for life. So tell me, was it a coincidence that you guys adopted me?" I said.
