Since the fall festival was today, my parents decided it would be a great time to spend some time together. So far they were right, this place is amazing.  The town shops were decked out in fall colors, creating a sense of  fall in the air. I couldn't wait until Halloween to see what they do around here.

"They have face paint Gabriella,  let's do that."  Dad said.

"Alright." I said. Lucky for us, the line wasn't as long so we didn't have to wait long.

"What do you think of your first week of school?" Dad asked.

"It was ok I guess,  I met a girl named Savannah that shares three classes with me and she introduced me to her friends, so we became close. There was only one thing I really didn't understand." I explained.

"What was it?" He asked

"They all bow at their teachers, and when I asked, Savannah said it was an inside joke." I said.

"Well it could be an inside joke or it could have a meaning. You'll find out when you're sixteen." Dad said.

"Why do we have to wait until I'm sixteen?" I said. Dad didn't get to tell me because I was next in line.

"What would you like painted on your face?" The man said.

"How about a cat." I said.

"Alright here we go." He said before he started to move the pastel on my face.

"Looking good girl, I went with a butterfly on my cheek." Someone said. I couldn't place the voice bit it sound familiar.

"Who's there?" I said.

"It's me Savannah." she said.

"Oh hey." I said.

"When did you get here?" Savannah said.

"A few minutes ago. My dad wanted to get our face painted and mom is somewhere around here." I said.

"Hello, I'm Gabriella's father, Mr. Scott." Dad said. It was silent for a while before I heard her voice again.

"I'm Savannah." She said in awe.

"I know, Gabriella mentioned you." My dad said.

"Alright, I'm done. Here's a mirror." The man said. Once he handed me the mirror, I observed his work, which wasn't bad.

"It looks great, thank you." I said getting up while Dad sat down in the chair.

"Can I have my face painted to look like a lion, I always wanted to be a lion." Dad said while I rolled my eyes. Dad always acts like a kid more than I do. It's like he's an adult, but a kid on the inside.

"Where's your parents?" I asked Savannah. She was looking off into the distance.

"Savannah?" I said again. She turned back to me.

"You said something." She said.

"Yeah, I said where are your parents?" I said again.

"Oh, they're talking to your mom ." She said pointing to two people standing close to my mother.

"What do you think they are talking about?" I asked.

"I don't know, could be a lot of things. Hey, why don't we go check out the different booths." Savannah said.

"Alright just let me tell my dad." I said. I walked over to where Dad was still getting his face painted.

"Hey dad, you don't mind if I go with Savannah to look at the booths." I said.
