dear ivo,
i went to go see my grandma today in the hospital. she had cancer. and the worst part? it was so awkward because i wasn't very close to her.
i mean i still called her by her first name. that's not normal is it?
i brought along her favourite board game while the rest of the family brought her favourite foods. we all sat down and began to eat and talk. when mum said we should play the board game i brought, nancy just wanted to play it with me and only me.
weird right?
everyone left the room and silence set in.
"so how are you, nancy?" I asked her.
"what does it look like, theodora dear? i'm in a hospital bed with cancer!" she answered.
"please, it's just teddy."
"please, it's just grandma."
after that, we started to play the game. it was actually - dare I say it? - fun. surprisingly. we had a very heartfelt talk. maybe nancy was a little mean but what can I say? she had a right to be grumpy.
i kind of wish I had a right to be a grump too so I wouldn't get in trouble so often.
truly,
teddy.
