dear ivo,

today is the day i die.

i said my goodbyes to my family and friends. the goodbyes to my puppies were the hardest. they jumped up and barked. i went back to them. then left. then they jumped and barked again. and so it repeated itself for a while until my sister came.

"you're being melodramatic, teddy," nadia, my second oldest sister, scoffed. "it's just a speech."

"yeah but a speech I will die at!" i exclaimed. "so goodbye, nadia. you were a great sister and friend. our time together will be cherished in my heart forever," i said.

"yeah, yeah, spare me your sob story," nadia replied.

thanks. i love you too, nadia.

my speech was about world war two but you already knew that, didn't you, ivo? it went horribly too. my face burned red and my voice cracked more than a million times. i saw you lean over to izzy and say something to him. he and you laughed. i really hope it wasn't about me.

in the end, i didn't die. But i did die on the inside when you and izzy snickered again.

truly,

teddy.
