dear ivo,

grandpa mitch came over today. he was the husband of nancy. i never even saw him before. i mean, he didn't even go to the funeral. and then all of the sudden he wants to take me out shopping.

i told him i hate shopping.

"well, what about going for an ice cream?" he asked.

"i don't like ice cream." i said. i'm sorry, ivo, but it's true! pizza is just way better. but i didn't tell mitch that.

"how about a starbucks?"

"no."

"a movie?"

"no."

he sighed, throwing his hands in the air. "what do you want?"

and then an idea came to my mind. i know he's just trying to be nice and be my friend but i didn't want it. he didn't take care of nancy in the hospital, i did. he never was there, always drinking and partying. i knew i shouldn't have done this to him but he asked for it, and when you ask for something, i have to give it to you.

"skateboarding," i said.

"what?"

"i want to go skateboarding."

"okay let's do it," he said. i could tell under that excited exterior of his, i knew that he was nervous. i knew his history with skateboarding. he broke his foot and that put him out of his dream job. but right now, i wanted to put mitch in his place.

but what was surprising was mitch still had his talent. he was pretty good actually. my stomach hurt so much from laughing at the fat old grandpa skateboarding. all the people at the skatepark were laughing their butts off. man, ivo, you should have seem it.

i also met some people. they were all pretty cool. one of them was named jason. he helped me learn how to skateboard better.

truly,

teddy
