Cause and Effect

Part 11

Silence. That is what the car ride consisted of. When we got to the hotel Daniel took the couch almost immediately after changing. Jake and Brent took one bed, spooning like some old married couple. And Ally took the other bed, waiting to split it with me, but I wasn't ready to sleep just yet.

Oliver was staying over and got to sleep on the floor, because Ally pretended to be a sad, little girl who wanted his protection. They bought it and it took all I had in me not to laugh. I walked in my t-shirt and sweats over to the balcony where he stood.

"It's beautiful tonight, isn't it?" He asked as I got close enough to hear.

"I guess," I said with a shrug. "Why do you hate Daniel and Brent?" I blurted out, then covered my mouth with my hand.

"I don't hate them, they just..." he sighed and ran a frustrated hand through his hair, "Well, Brent doesn't think about things. She just does what goes through her head. She is brave- braver than anybody that I know. And she isn't really a bitch, she's just protective. Still, she bothers me to the point where I want to smash a canvas over her short little head."

It was then that I did something unthinkable.

I laughed.

But he didn't seem to notice, he kept going.

"And Daniel... well Daniel is just too violent. BRENT thinks more the he does and that's saying something. Ally is different... but she is too quiet around me to get a read on her. But you... you're different than all of them." He gave me a quizzical look. I waited a moment before answering.

"I still want Brent to beat the shit out of you... but I understand why they could be a little overbearing." he tried to talk but I interrupted him. "My mind isn't set. I don't know if I think you're the evil monster that I used to, but you're still a dick and if you don't keep Lilly happy while she's at la casa de asswipe, I will personally go Hulk on you. And cut the attitude; you're no better than the rest of us." I finished and stalked back into the room, but stopped when a firm but gentle hand went to my shoulder.

"Thank you... For having more faith than the rest." I felt unexpected heat rise to my cheeks and I gave a single nod before racing back to my room. I hardly slept and was the first to wake and get to take a shower.

A/N: okay, SUPER short chapter. 

Really, it's just a filler. 

And right now, you probably are checking your updates and getting all excited for a new chapter...
