Chapter 17

I see Cathy with Jason. I immediately got startled when Vanessa touched my back to check on me.

"Nothing's wrong." I immediately say. "I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah." I wipe some sweat dripping from my head. "Yeah I'm fine."

I take the picture and I tell Cody to go outside with me.

"Do you think she's a spy?" I ask Cody. I'm a hundred percent sure that's Jason.

"I do think so." Cody scratches the back of his head. "We need an explanation from her."

"Could we excuse Cathy?" I go inside.

"Sure."

Cathy goes out with us.

"Do you work for Jason?" Cody eyes her.

"Jason?" She asks.

"Don't play dumb." Cody clenches his fist.

"Woah woah." I tell Cody. "Relax, there is an explanation why."

"Then." Cody brings out the picture. "Could you explain this?"

"Well, that's my friend Jason." She smiles. "He's in the same batch as I am and we're best friends."

"Jason goes to school?" I ask in shock.

"Well duh." She says. "His family is rich. His father's a mafia leader. Of course he doesn't want Jason to become stupid."

"But do you know what he did for the past few weeks?"

"No." She says. "He has not been in class for 3 weeks now. I'm actually worried about that."

"He's your best friend?" Cody asks shockingly.

"Yes. He's my only friend that actually cares and helps me."

"That Jason you're talking about, is a murderer."

Cathy's eyes immediately turns towards me and asks me.

"Is this true?" Her voice is shaking. "Please tell me that's not true."

"Well, that's true and not true." I tell her.

Cathy runs back in her apartment with tears in her eyes and a few minutes later I see the others going down.

"What did you two do?" Kyle asks.

"We got some information for you."

Going back to the hotel room Cody explains what happened a while ago. We enter the room and Cody is done telling them everything.

"Well that's unexpected." Tyler sits down on the couch with Vanessa. "I thought Jason was a murderer. And what do you mean by he's a murderer and he's not a murderer?" Tyler asks me

"Okay, here's my part of the story. Jason did all of those bad things because he wants Lars to trust him. According to Jason, that trust is important because it's the key to lower Lars' guard down. He wants Lars to trust him because of the projects, he had no other choice."

"I still think Jason's a murderer." Cody lies down on the bed.

"Then why did he help us then?"

"That's what is mysterious about Jason's moves. Sometimes he's good, sometimes he's bad." Cody sighs. "I'm tired about all of these twists in our problem."

I just want everything solved and no one else will get hurt. I don't want to involve more innocent people in our problems.

"I'll sleep." Kyle yawns and lands face first on the bed.
