"Zayn?"
The sound of her soft, American accent woke me from my short-lived slumber. I felt her petite fingers touch my shoulder and I slowly opened my eyes only to peer directly into her round ones.
"Yes?"
I waited for her to attempt to respond, but she seemed to be in a trance. Her breathing slowed as my face moved in closer to hers. Her light-pink lips trembled as her eyes closed.
"Get out," I snarled.
I watched as she backed away in one quick motion.
"Um, I, um, I was wondering, um."
"What is it?" I demanded, standing up without stretching like I did sometimes.
"Well, um, it's six and I normally eat dinner now."
"Then go eat," I told her as I moved her out of my way with one arm.
"I want you to come with me."
I stopped in my tracks and spun around.
"And I want you to come now."
She placed both of her hands on her hips and scrutinized me.
"I won't." I turned back to the direction I was originally facing and stepped out of the room.
"Yeah, you will," she countered, following me.
I swore to never feel anything again, but she was making it so terribly difficult. All I wanted to feel was utmost anger. I wanted to hate her, but I could not because that would require feelings.
"And how do you suppose you will make me do that?" I questioned harshly without looking at her.
"I took your car keys."
I could care. I could not. "You're lying."
"You wish I was."
The sound of carpet being stepped on was heard as she ambled up behind me and jingled my car keys in my ear.
I tried to grab them from her grasp, but she was too brisk and her arm shifted causing me to miss.
"I'm in the mood for Italian," she giggled and skipped to the front door.
I strode behind.
"You cannot actually force me to get into my car. You may go if you wish. I shall remain here."
"Oh, shut up. You're coming." She reached for my forearm and clasped her hand around it.
I flinched immediately and pulled my arm back.
"Fine, I'll go alone." She stuck my car keys in her jeans' pocket and I opened the door for her before she sauntered out.
I closed the door once she left the building and ran my fingers through my jet black hair. I shouldn't care about what could happen to her. It would be her own fault. I could not be concerned about her life. I needed to focus on my own, if I were living that is.
The ignition of my car started with a rather loud noise and I soon heard it drive away. She actually left. Good. I paced around the room. Maybe I could have left before she came back. I could have traveled to a new area on foot. She could keep my car.
You should go after her.
The voice inside of my head was mocking me. I swung around and punched the wall nearest to me; a huge hole was penetrated into it. The voice mocked me once more.
You want to go with her.
And as always, I did not care what the voice said.
But I gave in and exited the flat anyways, determined to accompany her.
