"I was fourteen years old when my mother had informed me of her death. There had been two car accidents that day, and Eleanor had been the only one who had lost her life. I had seen her before I heard the news though; she had appeared as a specter. She was the first specter I had ever seen before."
"Wait, a specter?" Adelaide questioned as she rested on the couch, away from Louis.
Louis leaned against the wall in front of us and I leaned against the arm of the couch Adelaide was upon. I still remained wary of Louis' actions. I could not completely trust him, of course.
"The supernatural world refers to them as specters, but you humans call them ghosts. Your world's "ghost hunters" believe they know why they can see these "ghosts", but they are wrong. Humans were never very intelligent," Louis explained.
"Then why do some claim to see them?"
"Once a person dies and they become a specter, forgetting that curses can screw nature up, they may choose if they wish to be seen. Most remain unseen to human eyes and they walk the earth just as everyone else. Their life is over as a human, but they, in a way, live a new life as a specter. This is where humans ruin the true story."
I suspected that Louis would continue to insult humans, so I cut him off.
"They don't 'go into the light' and disappear forever. They just let go of their humanity and accept a new journey. Humans do not see them, and they do not see humans, vampires, or anything other than themselves. They go into their own world. A place known as Dupa Moarte. Just as vampires began in Romania, specters did too. Their world has a Romanian name and it translates in English to "After Death". The Egyptians referred to it as the after-life. It is interestingly contradictory."
"Oh joy, a history lesson. Looks like you got more than you bargained for, love," Louis winked at Adelaide and she grimaced.
"Anyways," I continued, rolling my eyes, "Eleanor came to me with a message. She said I was the only one who could pass it along. I am guessing she did not wish to speak with vampires, and she somehow knew that I was cursed and I would be able to reason with you without you killing me since I am obviously already dead."
"What was the message?" Louis inquired eagerly.
"She loved you but she needed to move on. She also mentioned that you were too far gone, so she could not tell you herself. You must have been barbarous monster then too. Shocking," Sarcasm was dripping from the last word I spoke and Louis glared.
"I loved her more than you or anyone else could ever understand. She was everything to me, but I lost her and even in death she was afraid of me," He meant to sound threatening, but he only sounded pained.
"I met her when she was nineteen years old. I had been a vampire for a while by then and I despised humans. Eleanor though..." He sighed once and closed his eyes, "Oh, my sweet Eleanor. I still remember perfectly the first time I laid eyes on her."
"I knew she was the one. She just simply was. I was such a romantic then. I would have done anything, anything at all for her. I could not forget who I was though. She found out I was a vampire much later than I had expected. She was nervous and I soon realised that she did not completely trust me anymore."
"I was angry. I wanted her love more than my own existence. I was going insane thinking that she would abandon me. I could not exist without her. I was foolish and one day, I just snapped. I almost attacked her and I hated myself. I told her to leave. I could never harm her. Bloody hell, I would stake myself for that."
"She drove away, and that...that was when she got into the accident." Louis stuttered and soon could speak no longer.
He covered his face in his hands and all became quiet. I glanced at Adelaide and she had tears in her eyes. I could understand where he was coming from. I had forced so many to leave me.
