"It was the day of Gemma and Xavier's wedding..."
"...Both of their families were beyond excited for the union of the two "lovers". Clearly, they did not pay close enough attention to the relationship between Gemma and Xavier. Gemma walked down the isle in a dress that Anne had spent months creating the year before in preparation for her daughter's future marriage..."
"...The relatively small crowd of people with shining eyes and admiring smiles watched as Gemma practically floated down the flower petal isle with utter grace and beauty. Gemma waved to everyone, tears occasionally streaming down her cheeks. A gasp awakened her from her daze and her glittering, green eyes instantly zeroed in on where her husband should have been. His emptiness seemed to echo throughout the whole country..."
"...The tiny spark inside of her ignited into a raging fire as she threw her veil to the ground and spun around in the opposite direction before sprinting off to find where Xavier had disappeared to. He had disappointed her once, and he would not do it again..."
"Uh, Zayn?"
"Yes?"
"You missed the turn."
I snapped out of the remembrance of Gemma's life and fixated on Adelaide's, "I will turn around."
I kept driving along the seemingly-never-ending straight road ahead.
"I don't think you can," she peeped.
"Where will this road take us?" I asked her calmly.
"There's a way to get back on the road we were on before, but it will add another half hour to our drive."
I sighed and swore under my breath, "My apologies, Adelaide."
"It's no problem. It gives you more time to tell me about Gexavier."
"Pardon?"
"Gemma and Xavier. Gexavier. It's their ship name."
"Their what?"
"Never mind. Ignore me. Back to the story."
"You are taking this surprisingly well, I must say. You are human; you should be doubtful and afraid."
"Well, I'm not. I see no reason why you would make all of this up, so I believe you," she shrugged.
"Are you serious?" I asked, trying to hide my astonishment.
"Yep, definitely," she confirmed.
"Okay..." I replied and thought of where I had left off previously.
"...Gemma searched for Xavier all over town from the time of her wedding, about noon, until very late at night. She could not find him anywhere and her stress was overpowering. She came across a man in a tuxedo and because of her blurry vision from exhaustion, she thought he was Xavier..."
"...She walked up to him and entirely forgot about her anger. She had missed him terribly and she assured him that they could get married whenever he was ready. She would use magic to convince their parents to halt. The man's voice sounded as if he were a snake, "I'm not who you think I am..."
"He eyed her greedily and Gemma did not blink once; she was not frightened. She figured she had more power than a disgusting, sexually-hungry human male. "Who are you then?" "You'll find out soon enough when you are screaming my name," he taunted. He licked his lips in a provocative manner. He flicked his tongue at her and raked his hands through his spiky, ash brown hair."
"...You do not scare me," Gemma glared at him violently, but he did not appear shaken. "You do not scare me either," he countered as his eyes roamed her body. "I would stay away if I were you. I will kill you." The street light above them shattered and it became pitch black."
