Zayn's P.O.V.
"He was brunette and maybe around six feet tall. I wasn't able to get a good look at him."
Whenever she sounded apprehensive and more vigilant than usual, it made me the same way. All I wanted was for her to be safe and out of danger's reach. Was being around her causing danger to follow her, or was my evasive behavior the cause?
"I'm still working on figuring out who he is. I'll try to find him," I swore.
"Okay. Thank you, Zayn," she stated and hung up the phone.
I took my sketchbook out and opened it to the last drawing I'd done; it had been from yesterday. While Adelaide was asleep, I had drawn her. It might've been a bit unusual, yes, but she appeared so much younger and innocent whilst she slept.
She was another kind of beautiful.
I yearned to be beside her at all times. I yearned to smooth her dark, wavy hair away from her delicate face so I could view all of the captivating angles. I yearned to gaze into her mesmerizing eyes for an eternity without any interruptions. I yearned to softly kiss her cheek at night before she went to sleep. I yearned to hold her hand without having to speak a single word and she would just know how much she meant to me.
It seemed as though the curse would not have harmed her, but I could not have been entirely certain of that. All my life I have been warned of what the curse was capable of. I could not ignore everything just to give into love, but I found that I needed her too much.
And admitting this was something I should not have done.
Addie's P.O.V.
I retraced my steps back to Cecilia's room. It had been a little over an hour since I'd seen her last. I had gone out to a quiet cafe for a bit to attempt relaxation. It didn't seem to work though, so after eating, I decided to just come back to the hospital.
"Della!" She called out happily.
For a moment, I thought she was in pain, but after sensing the joy in her voice, I knew she was alright, "How are you, Lia?"
"Dude, I just had the weirdest dream ever!"
I laughed, feeling at ease, "What was it about?"
"So I was in this random room and I couldn't really think straight. I tried so hard to remember how I got there, but I felt like something was blocking me from doing so. It was too dark in the room so I couldn't tell what exactly was in there, and then out of nowhere, this chick with bleach blonde hair and lots of piercings on her ears came forward. She said something to me but I couldn't really here her."
Bleach blonde hair and many ear piercings? She didn't sound like anyone I would know of. "That's-"
My phone rang and Cecilia urged me to answer. I glanced down as I pulled out my cellphone.
"Hey, Niall."
Why was he calling me now?
"Hi, Addie. How's your cousin?"
Niall had been texting me occasionally and I mentioned that I was going to Dublin to visit Cecilia.
"She's doing well. Thank you for asking."
"Yeah, just thought I'd check in with ya. Do you think you'll be in school tomorrow?"
"Oh, probably not. Why do you ask?"
It would suck missing school considering I'd only been back for one day after the brief break.
"Maybe I could gather the classwork and homework and drop it off at your place."
I smile, "That would be very helpful. Thanks! You need my address, right?"
He told me "yes" and I quickly recited it to him.
"Thank ya, babe. I'll leave ya to your cousin now."
Cecilia raised her eyebrows at me after Niall hung up.
"Who was that?"
"Just a friend from school," I told her.
Of course, Niall was a great friend to me, but I was only interested in Zayn. I knew that my relationship with Niall would remain a friendship.
"Adelaide?"
"Who is that? He just said your full name."
Cecilia was as confused as I was.
"Zayn?" I ask, turning around to see him standing in the doorway.
"I am very sorry to interrupt. May I speak with you outside for a moment?"
I glanced towards Cecilia and she shrugged at me.
"My apologies again," Zayn told her.
"Oh, no worries."
"Did something happen?" I wondered quietly in the hallway.
Zayn just shook his head, "I just want to inform you that I am going to continue searching for the person you saw for a few days here. You should go back home without me."
"If you're sure about that," I started, as I eyed him curiously.
"I am. It would be riskier for you if you were here with me when I find him."
"Okay."
I opened my arms to give him a hug, but he shot me an awkward and slightly insecure look before turning around on the heel of his right foot and leaving.
