A week had passed since I'd finally told Niall everything. He seemed to be taking it well, but if I'm being one hundred percent honest...I have no clue how Niall is. The last time I'd spoken to him was, well, a week ago. I had seen him in the hallways at school, and he waved or simply smiled, but it just so happened that every time I wanted to say something, he would speedily vanish from my sight.
I never would have seen it coming actually. The day we spoke about everything, he had confessed that his older brother, Greg, was a sorcerer. I mean, shouldn't we talk about that a bit more? His brother is magical and so is my sister. We have things in common, okay. Ignoring the fact that I'm technically magical too, we can understand each other. I thought we did. Guess not?
"You're thinking about him, aren't you?" Harry's progressively deeper voice questioned. I'd almost forgotten that he was sitting in the chair directly across from me. "I'm always thinking about him," I replied with a melancholy tone. I assumed he was referring to Zayn.
"Really?" He raised an eyebrow and pushed his hair back, away from his face. It was growing longer, curlier, and darker. "That surprises you?" I wondered with a half smile. "Already moved on, eh?" He joked, and then I knew he'd been talking about Niall.
"No!" I answered a bit too harshly. "Jeez, I'm sorry!" He quieted and returned his attention to the book within the grasp of his abnormally large hands. "No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to come out so...dramatically." He just nodded and his eyes flickered down to the endless amount of words on each page.
"You know I won't move on from him," I added softly. There was not a single doubt in my mind that I would hold onto the memory of Zayn for as long as I could. I love him. "I know; I shouldn't have joked about it. Just thought that he wouldn't want anyone to steal his girl."
This time, I smiled a full, teeth-showing smile. Knowing that Zayn had wanted me just as I had wanted, and still do want, him was one of the best feelings in the world. "We have to talk to Niall. I don't even know why he's being so distant."
Harry nodded once and sighed before setting his book down onto the tabletop. His fingers intertwined with one another, and the silver band on the middle finger of his right hand with the word "peace" imprinted on it shone as the light hit it, sending off rays in varying directions.
"You could just call him," Harry's British voice suggested. "I wonder why I didn't think of that before," I replied dryly. I'd called Niall four times already, and he had ignored all of them. "Call him again? Maybe he was busy before." Harry tried to seem hopeful, but he and I both knew that Niall was ignoring me on purpose.
"Give me his number," he demanded suddenly, whipping out his phone from his black, skinny jeans' pocket. "But how-" Harry shook his head and cut me off, "If he actually is ignoring you, then he'll answer when I call," he explained. I think Harry's smarter than me, and he hasn't even been my older brother for very long yet.
I showed him Niall's number from my phone and Harry's emerald eyes darted from my phone to his as he carefully typed in each number. I felt my expression fall flat as Niall picked up almost instantly. "Hello?" "I have a question for you, Niall," Harry's voice became deeper in order for him to try to remain unrecognized.
"Uh, okay?" Niall inquired while I glared at Harry's phone. Why had Niall been acting so childish? "How ridiculously idiotic does one have to be to completely disregard a friend who has been worried about them? I am actually quite baffled because if I had a seriously important conversation with one of my friends, I would expect to speak to them again and discuss how I was feeling about all of it. I would not act so stupid like you have gone and done."
"Do you even know how confused you've made her? You couldn't even answer a single one of her calls, and here you are answering the call of a stranger's number. I could've been Gemma out to get you and convert you into my slave or something. Do you have no rationality at all?"
