Zayn's P.O.V.
I eyed Gemma warily, and I could easy tell that she was beyond irate. I guess for the sake of being understanding, I could see why she would be upset. I have never let anyone go through my sketchbook. Ever. If someone had, I would have killed them. Literally. Unless, it was Adelaide.
But, I know Gemma, and I know that she is psychotic. She has kept too many secrets to count from everyone she's ever come across, and I do not feel any sort of sympathy for her. It was actually necessary for Xavier to go through her diaries. Otherwise, I probably would have never known that Evelyn was one of my ancestors.
I waited for her to say something, or do something irrational, but she did not. She simply glared at nothing, and did not say a single word. It was quite unusual. She must be plotting her revenge already. It would not surprise me at all. Her mind is constantly thinking of ways to be one step ahead of everyone. It is as though life is just a game to her, as well as everyone else's lives.
She likes to pretend that people around her are her puppets or dolls. She loves controlling them, and it gives her great satisfaction to watch as they succumb beneath her even whilst they're screaming for help. She believes that just because she is a powerful sorceress, as well as an immortal vampire, she can do whatever she desires.
She makes me sick. I am so sorry for Adelaide. "So..." Adelaide started awkwardly. "If the curse is broken, then are you guys still considered 'perished'?" She changed the subject, but she brought up a valid question. "It's not completely broken though," Xavier pointed out. "Oh," she muttered.
"You'll have to break it for us," Xavier shrugged. Break the curse? Entirely? I frowned and Adelaide shot me a questioning glance. "If she breaks the curse entirely, I am guessing that it will require more power from her. Could that harm her in any way?" I inquired.
"Well...it might drain her," Xavier supposed quietly. "Drain her? Meaning what exactly?" "She'll get tired and weak. She hasn't actually tried to do any spells before, so her body and mind won't be used to it. She'll probably pass out, get a nose bleed...something like that," Gemma shrugged just as Xavier had.
Why are they acting so casual about this? Adelaide is not accustomed with magic and spells, although she had been undoing the curse. It will clearly hurt her or tear apart her mind. It is risky and dangerous. "She is not breaking the curse," I stated firmly.
"What?" Xavier's eyes widened in surprise. "I said-" "What do you mean by that?" Adelaide's voice was full of incredulity. "You cannot break it. It could harm you, and it is not necessary for you to break the curse anyway. It does not affect you. We are okay," I whispered the last three words but she shook her head.
"You can't just assume that it's harmful. You don't even know if it really is. If it's almost broken, shouldn't all of the hard parts be over with?" She looked to Xavier for support, but his eyes adverted to the floor. "Curses are difficult to break, especially finishing them off. If it were just a spell, that would be another story.
"It doesn't matter. It's not just about Zayn or you or anyone in the past. The future matters. What about the next generations? They would be cursed too," Adelaide pouted and I felt myself melt. She has so much control over me, and magic is not even involved with it. "Only if Zayn plans on having children," Xavier tried hiding his smirk, but all of us noticed it.
I watched as Adelaide's cheeks reddened and I could practically feel the warmth radiating off of her smooth, olive skin. "He might someday," she replied shyly. I could sense the sadness within her voice. The sadness was present most-likely because she was thinking of the most-unlikely of situations: I would be with someone else in the future.
