A Second Thought?

Jay's POV

(This is a super super super short chapter... y'all are probably gonna be upset with me after this 😂.... I still love y'all 💗stay tuned though!)

"So, I need you to help me and Dr. East with this procedure. I rescheduled your heart surgery with Dr. Alsina to later on. I'm gonna need your help with the conjoined twins." Chief Hardwick said as I stood in his office.

"Yeah Chief... I got it... I'm gonna go prep for surgery." I said as I walked out of the office.

"Wait, Dr. Manali!" Dave semi-yelled as I walked down the hall. He followed right behind me.

"Yes Dr. East?" I asked with a fake smile. I turned around to look up at his 6'5 frame and I started shaking my head mentally. This is too much. I'm a freaking punk.

"You okay? You been a little low-keyed today. I thought you'd be excited about the twins." He asked as I shook my head yes.

"Yeah... I'm great... better than ever... of course I'm excited. We've been prepping for this surgery for weeks now. I'll see you in there in a couple of minutes." I said with a smile as I walked into the women's restroom.

I slid my back against the door once it closed and I groaned aloud in frustration.

"Ughhhhhhhh!! This is too hard!!!!!!!"

I'm tired of having to choose between Chris and Dave. I seriously feel for the both of them. One minute, I'm having dinner with the fam and I'm chilling with Chris. We're bonding and catching up. He's reminding me of every reason why I fell in love with him in the first place.

Then, the next minute, I come back to work and I see Dave. He's smiling at me and he's trying to show me so much affection. He's showing me that he really wants to be right here with me! But in reality, the both of them are!

Can I stay single and just enjoy the both of them? This is way too hard. This makes no sense. Chris wants to marry me and show me that he's changed. Dave told me this morning how he wants to start a family and he wants me to move in with him soon.

I can't freakin do this man.... I can't be happy the right way. If I choose one, then I'm still gonna go through withdrawals about the other one. I just don't know what to do.

I hit the wall and I heard my pager go off. As I looked down at it, I saw that the Chief was paging me. I guess they're ready to start the surgery.

Anybody's POV

"Excuse me, do you know where Chief Hardwick is?" A man walked into the lobby asking the attendant at the desk.

"No, I'm not sure... I'm sorry." She said as the man shook his head okay and he walked off.

The man walked through the emergency room gazing at different patients and trauma beds. There were screams and cries everywhere, but he calmly walked past everything and everybody.

He got on the elevator and he pressed the button going up.

"Hi, do you know where Chief Hardwick is?" He asked a nurse as she shook her head no. As the elevator went up, he started tapping his foot. When the elevator reached its destination, he walked out first.

"Does anybody know where I can find Chief Hardwick or Dr. Brown?" He asked as he continued to walk through the halls.

"Why is this Hospital so freaking big? I'm supposed to be on a schedule..." He said aloud as he wandered.

Who is this man and what is he here for?
