Chris' POV

She walked through the door with the prettiest smile on her face.

"Surprise?" She said as she shrugged her shoulders in an embarrassing manner.

I guess she didn't plan on any of this happening today. I hadn't planned on it either.

I haven't seen her in three years man. That's a long time. We were already separated for six. In a minute, I was gonna make some calls.

"I haven't seen you in so long." I said as I let out a sigh and I opened my arms up. She slowly walked towards me with a small smirk.

She wrapped her arms around me and I fully embraced her... rocking us back and forth.

"I missed you Chris." She said as I smiled.

"I missed you too... I missed moments like these." I said as she let me go and she backed away.

"I almost forgot.... Chris you have a surgery and I have to get going." She said as she backed up away from me.

"No no wait... stay and scrub in with me." I said as she furrowed her eyebrows.

"Chris I just got off of a plane. I'm tired." She said as I moved closer to her.

"Please? I'm not asking you to do anything. Just watch me and talk to me. Keep me company. I really missed your presence." I said as she sighed.

I forgot... I'm the reason why she left. She felt like I didn't want her around. How stupid could I be?

She stared at the floor like she had some other things on her mind.

"What's wrong? Talk to me." I said she cut me off.

"Nothing... I'll stay for a little bit, but then I gotta go." She said as she washed her hands and grabbed some scrubs.

"Thanks babe——!" I whispered as she cut me off.

"Nigga don't babe me... I don't know who that girl is up there, but you ain't slick. Imma just say less. I hope you two are happy." She said as I started to remember that Nola was sitting in the viewing room.

We're kinda dating... well we are. It's almost like every time I see Jay, she puts me in this forgetful state. Like I said in the beginning, the whole world stops when she comes around... literally.

I still love her dearly. She just doesn't believe that I do.

My words hurt her deeply. It's all because I don't know how to shut my mouth. We could've definitely been married by now. How did I let Moniece pass us up on marriage?

I'm supposed to be genuinely happy with my first love. She should be pregnant right now with my child.

"Jay I...." I said but then I cut myself off.

"Chris come on so we can start this surgery. Brains don't cut themselves." She said chuckling and walking out. I know she's acting like she isn't bothered by any of this, but I know deep down she is. I want her to tell me how she feels, but not right now.

I walked right behind her and all eyes were on us. I walked up to the table and I put on new gloves.

"Alright guys... Dr. Manali will be joining us on this jaw dropping surgery today. I know some of you remember her." I said aloud as some of the nurses and assistants hugged her. I smiled at the sight.

I looked up at the viewing room at Moniece. She had a huge grin plastered on her face because Jay was standing next to me.

I looked over at Nola and she was eye balling me. I don't know if she knows about Jay, but I hope not. I want no drama while she's here, or before Mo's wedding.
