"Say what?" He asked as I closed my eyes.

I just really started something.

I saw him close his fists and he clenched his jaw really tight.

"That nigga did what?" He asked as he approached me. Chris was basically turning red and it definitely frightened me.

"He asked me to marry him Chris... today..." I said as he let out a sinister laugh.

"Listen... don't go do anything crazy please..." I said as he walked over to the couch and he sat down.

"I never would've thought that I would be fighting over something that's technically mine. I'm spending all this time being distracted over a woman." He said as I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Huh?" I asked him as I crossed my arms.

"Look, I always told myself that I would never ever do this. But, then here you come back into my life making me miserable." He said as he let out a deep sigh.

"So, I make you miserable? Are you serious?" I asked as he shook his head at me.

"Chris... that night at the lounge I told you to stop following me. You trailed me all the way back to my house instead of leaving me alone! You brought me back into this relationship and you're saying this is my fault?" I asked as my voice escalated.

"I don't care about what you're saying. I'm grown and if I wanna follow you, I will do as I please. But, that's besides the point. Like I said... you're distracting me." He said as my heart sunk.

"You and Dave are putting all this freaking pressure on me! You don't think I'm distracted? Who you know that's getting asked into marriage by two guys that used to be bros? Exactly, nobody... You know what Chris... I don't know what you want me to do. I'm asking you right now, do you want me or not? This is the last time I'll ask. You're making it seem like I'm a bump in the road. Last time you said that I wasn't, but are you changing your mind?" I asked as I tapped my foot against the ground.

"Maybe.. this is all just all too much for me. I gotta better things to worry about." He said as my bottom lip almost hit the floor.

He stayed sitting on the couch. Then, he wouldn't even look at me. He's got better things to worry about? What happened to me being his "everything"?

"Are you for real right now?" I asked as he looked up at me and he slouched down in his seat.

"Wow.... so much for that little speech you gave me in the bathroom at the restaurant. All that talk about you wanting to marry me was a lie. You were just trying to strut and stroke your little ego...Just to make you feel like you were finally winning. So, all of this was a game to you." I said as I walked to grab my phone and my purse.

"Jay, I'm just tired okay? All of this is just too much."

"Now you wanna get tired? I was tired when I had to wait for Zoey to be through with you Chris. But, I see you just can't hang. No where in the previous sentences did I say that I told Dave yes I'd marry him... I told you yes, but you're just ready to throw me away. It's cool, I see how it is. Soon, you're probably gonna find another woman. I'll have to just be fine with it since you can't take me anymore." I said walking towards the door as I felt him walk behind me.

"Babe... I... I love you." He said as I opened up his front door.

I turned around to face him. He reached his hand up to graze my cheek.

"You love me... but you feel like I'm too much for you to handle. I hate to walk away from you, but soon, you're gonna end up doing it to me. This time it would be for good. So, I'm just gonna go myself. I'll leave the hospital and you won't have to be bothered with me anymore. I'll find another job." I said shaking my head and walking out.
