It wasn't the first time I had met an infuriating girl; I had invited Kia here, and she wasn't exactly the nicest of souls. Terris was certainly going to be a bigger problem than Kia, especially if she was sent to be my babysitter by Father himself. I scowled to myself. Having Cecil was more than enough... why did I need another 'babysitter'? I wasn't even a baby anymore! I could cope with life just fine by myself. I recognized her; she was a newly graduated scholar, daughter of Solomon Hunter, the head scholar. This much was easy to tell, since Teresa, or Terris as she liked to be called, had her father's blue eyes, but not his blonde hair. She must have inherited her mother's dark curls, whoever she was.
She was fairly attractive, but definitely not my type. She was way too grouchy and sarcastic for my liking, although Kia was as well, albeit on a slightly lesser scale. Plus, she looked terrible in her scholar robes; with her mustard colored tunic, baggy pants and a moss colored robe on top, the entire outfit looked like muddy grass. It didn't help that she wore the clothes of a boy. Female scholars, though more rare than males, usually wore a long sleeveless tunic that reached the floor like a dress, and a robe on top. Terris, however, still wore the sleeveless tunic, but had folded it in someway so that it had multiple pockets and only reached above her knees, and had 'borrowed' a pair of male pants. I highly doubted she asked politely.
I groaned as she took off in flight, riding her new best friend Starfire. "You've got be kidding me!" I yelled at her.
"Does that give me an excuse to ride a dragon?" Kia asked next to me, and I looked at her. Her ruby lips glinted in the sunlight, her raven black hair once again braided, although she looked freshly washed. She did look slightly similar to Terris, but her hair was straight, and her eyes a deep shade of violet, just like Ironfang.
"No. You're riding with me." I grinned, running towards my personal stable. "Ironfang!" I called towards my trusty dragon. The silver dragon rose from his sleeping spot begrudgingly, and I jumped on him, holding out a hand towards Kia. "Come on! I'll think you'll love this."
She jumped on Ironfang by herself, ignoring my hand and huffing. "Prince Idiot, I don't need a boy to help me up. I'm fine by myself." I snorted a bit at that as Ironfang launched into the air, and we followed Terris, who somehow was fine by herself.
"How do you know how to fly a dragon?" I yelled at her, my voice barely audible through the harsh wind.
"Because I'm not an idiot like you!" She screamed back. Starfire seemed to agree, because she blew a short puff of smoke in my face.
I coughed and spluttered, turning around and gasping for fresh air. Kia snickered behind me, pressing her face into my back to prevent herself from laughing too hard and choking. It was then that I was truly aware of our proximity, of her arms tightly wound around my abdomen,. I swallowed, finally replying Terris. "I'm not an idiot!" I shouted back at the green fire dragon and her rider. I heard Kia scoff behind me, and she kicked the back of my leg. I grunted, leg jerking forwards. "What was that for!?" I hissed loudly, twisting around to face her.
Kia raised a brow. "Admit that you're an idiot first, then maybe I'll stop kicking you." She quipped, her violet orbs glinting teasingly. I shook my head adamantly. No way in hell was I going to admit that I was stupid, in front of two girls who would probably never forget it! Don't forget two dragons, rumbled a voice in my mind. I cringed. Right. I couldn't forget Ironfang and Starfire, who wouldn't let me live it down either. She prodded me in the chest with a finger, a grin spreading on her face. "Are you ticklish?"
I froze. Oh crud. "Maybe." I blinked rapidly, lips forming a silent no. In truth, I was probably the most ticklish crown prince Lukar had ever had. I had to admit, that was my weakness. However good a sword-fighter I was, I could never win in a tickle fight.
