"Again!" Gael bellowed happily.  For no apparent reason, he was making me run laps around Silverra Castle.  There is a reason.  We're training you to be stronger physically and mentally. Right, totally.  He was probably making me do it because it was entertainment for him.  The ladies are in charge of the mental stuff, I'm dealing with the physical.  You have to be fit in order to beat the guardian of Death.  He paused for a while. Plus, you want to look good for my daughter, don't you? I scowled.  I could almost imagine him wiggling his eyebrows.  But he was pretty accurate.  Ever since Kia left, I was way more distracted than I usually was when she was around.

Damn her.

"Gael!" Came a sharp voice.  Thankfully, Clara had come to my rescue.  "You're going to exhaust the poor child!" She wrapped and arm around me protectively.  Personally, I thought this was a bit too much mothering from her side.  But I could hardly blame her- she herself had been killed, and her children sent off on the run.  She hardly had a chance "It's my turn." They sounded like bickering children, or in this case, an old married couple.

"Fine, I'll hand the kid over to you." Gael grumbled grumpily.  "You're too soft on him." I let out a mental sigh of relief.  Finally, freedom! I heard that, kid.  I knew he did, I just didn't care.

I followed Clara back into the castle, eager to get some relief for my sore muscles.  I swear, after the whole ordeal was over I was going to get abs.  I wanted a nice soft sofa, but a warm bath would've been even better... "No! Don't sit! You're going to get cramps!" Clara shouted.  I let out a low guttural groan.  I really wanted a plush sofa... Clara rolled her eyes, a scowl on her face.  It reminded me of Kia when she was annoyed at me, but it was a lot cuter when she did it.  "Fine, I'll invite a special guest.  Just don't get distracted."

She closed her eyes with a small grimace, concentrating hard.  "Uh, who are you summoning? My mom? A demon?" I asked curiously.

She shook her head.  "You'll know when you see her." She winked obnoxiously.  "Trust me, you'll be happy to see her." Kneeling down, I massaged my aching muscles, still keeping an eye on the older woman.

A dark haired girl appeared out of nowhere, stumbling towards me.  Bolting upright, I wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her against my chest.  She inhaled sharply, placing a hand on her heart.  "Gods, Alistair! What the hell? And mom! I assume this is your fault- I was having a conversation with Dagen, and it was going perfectly fine until I passed out!  Gee, thanks mom!" Clara laughed, but at that moment all I saw was red.  Who in Lukar was Dagen? You mean who in Terrande.  That's what Terris said anyway.  Kia snarked in my mind.  I tightened my grip on her, a slight growl escaping my throat.  "Hey, hey, hey! Dagen's taken!" She laughed, squirming in my grasp.  I buried my nose in her hair, breathing in the scent of lavender.

"I missed you." I murmured, resting my chin on the top of her head.  Kia giggled, snuggling into my body with a quiet purr.  I heard the quiet tapping of footsteps, and I figured it must've been Clara, who probably had enough.  "Who's Dagen?" I muttered.

"Your brother's boyfriend." Kia pressed her lips together, and Clara let out a choking sound.  I blinked.  And then I blinked again.  Cole had a boyfriend? Even when we were children, I noticed that he didn't have an interest in foreign princesses, but checking out the princes instead.  I never knew he actually liked guys.  She froze.  "Did I say something wrong?" She asked quietly.
