After a long trip to the seaside on Starfire's back, made all the more uncomfortable to sit on her with Terris since I wasn't used to her Starfire's slim figure, we bid goodbye to the fire dragon, who disappeared in a blur of dappled green. Before she left, however, she knelt down at Terris's side and breathed into her ring. I didn't know what she did, but it seemed awfully suspicious to me.

According to Terris, Starfire couldn't accompany us to Dagat since she was a fire dragon, and I didn't blame her. Apparently, Starfire was going to join Cecil and Squadron Beta in stealing the artifact inside Terrande. I didn't know why King Felix would want to steal something, but I realized that that was the real reason he allowed me to join the riders.

We stood at the cliff beside the ocean, before Celeste finally asked the question that we had all been asking. "Um, how do we even, like, go underwater? Like honestly, only if one of you has magic or something, or can control things with their mind, how will we be able to go underwater?" I stared at the girl, who had changed in the short period of time we had landed, into a tight fitting dress that hugged her legs. How on earth she was going to swim in that I had no idea, but she had the right idea. I did not want to be put into a flowing dress in water- it would flare up and expose my butt.

Terris smashed Celeste's face into Ironfang's back, something I learnt the hard way was incredibly painful, and crossed her arms. "Like this. Anapnéfste ypovrýchia!" She said, her ring flaring blue, and she pointed as us, and the same blue aura surrounded each of us except for Ironfang. She then jumped off the cliff.

"Terris!" Squealed Celeste, waddling over to the edge, and I followed suit, only to see Terris hovering above the water.

"Hurry up!" She yelled from below. "I opened the gateway for you guys, so hurry up and jump!"

"No way am I jumping down the- eep!" She squealed as I kicked her off the edge.  I found myself facing Alistair as he grabbed my shoulders, turning me towards him.

"Do you trust me?" He asked, giving me his hand.

I snorted. "I think the right question is, do I trust Terris. And yes, I do." For once, I actually took his hand, and we jumped off together. Brighttail, who was curled around Ironfang's tail, wrapped around him tighter, and Ironfang launched in after us. Keep your arms crossed. I don't want to mend any dislocated shoulders. He grumbled in our minds, and I did as he said. Alistair, however, seemed to be either having too much fun or panicking to respond, and as I let go of his hand, he flailed about, struggling to balance.  It was probably the latter.

Honestly, when Terris and I have thrown him off a dragon so many times, you'd think he'd be a bit better at falling from a height.

We hit the water with a splash, and suddenly, everything seemed to be in hyper-reality. It was a flurry of bubbles, limbs, and complete chaos until Terris yelled "Néro!" The water calmed, and we saw each other clearly again.

"How are we speaking?" I asked, and I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding. Bubbles circled around us, and I touched my neck self consciously. Nope. No gills.  Luckily, we weren't all turned into mermaids.  Ash had told me about them before, tales of women with tails who lured sailors to their death by singing.  I missed him, just thinking of the stories he told me when we were still children, and life wasn't as complicated.

"A complicated spell that A-Starfire taught me. It's for underwater breathing for humans like us. I just need one more if we have to be diplomatic with the Volna officials, so, a little space. I've never tried this before." She kicked her legs, her green tunic floating in the water currents as her black leggings covered her legs. Well, I guess there was one way to wear a dress with a flowing bottom.
