I waddled on like a duck, trying to rub the images out of my eyes and out of my head. The dress I had been given did have a slit on the side to let me have a little more freedom with my legs, but I was still feeling very squished. My legs were being squashed.

I closed my eyes, before uttering a single command. "Ánemos." The winds carried me up the stairs, and I grinned. This was so much easier than walking up. I arrived at the top of Dragon Tower, careful to not let anyone see me using my magery. Sure, it was legal and all, but I didn't want the other Riders to think the King was biased towards me because of my skills.

And the fact that I didn't need King Felix to know that I was helping the dragons with the rebellion.

As I hurried towards the plain where several other riders already stood, I noticed Alistair's brown hair through the crowd, and I pushed through. "Alistair. Alistair! Godammit Alice, listen to me." I squeezed, shoved and barged my way in, thankful for my thin frame and slim figure. "Coming through! Alistair!"

I seemed to have broken him out of his daydreams, since he immediately flinched and turned to me. "Yes, Terris? Where's Kia? Still talking with Ash?" His lips curled with disgust at the redheaded thief's name. Uh oh. That was a not a good sign. I was in no mood to be a mediator.

"Do you feel anything for Kia?" I announced bluntly, hands on my hips. "Tell me."

"Why would I tell you? If I did have feelings for her, wouldn't you think I'd tell her myself instead of you?" He grumbled, glaring at me. Oh dear. Here comes the temper.

I had two options: play it nice or play it sarcastic. You know which one I'd opt for. "Oh, because you think you know yourself so well." I rolled my eyes. "You're a dude, she's a girl. Which one am I? Oh, I don't know, maybe I'll know how she thinks."

"I am not in the mood for sarcasm, Teresa." He must've been extremely triggered to use my real name. The prince glared at me again. "And why you?"

"I'm the middle way." I told him. "You guys, you try to pretend that you have no feelings. But inside? You're a big cuddly teddy bear, who wants to be loved by his antisocial father or the pretty street thief you recruited off the streets." He growled in my direction, sounding like some feral animal. It would probably be a smart idea to stop talking, but since when did that stop me? "Yes, I've watched you checking her out, admiring her eyes. You've been caught in the act."

"So I looked at her." He crossed his arms. "So what? Why are you telling me? Why do you care?"

She's noticing you because I told her to help me keep an eye on you. Ironfang finally interjected, and it was like he was never there. What took him so long? Sorry, Terris, I was sleeping. Sleeping? Seriously? Of course! Just because I'm a dragon doesn't mean I don't need sleep.

"Why would you spy on me?" He sounded hurt.

"I'm a scholar. I pride myself on my knowledge. We pride ourselves on our knowledge. I'm observant, maybe even more than Kia, since she's interested in you as well. Well, sort of."

Alistair's eyes perked at the thought. "She's interested in me?"

"She's friend-zoning Ashton downstairs." I told him with a sly grin. "Isn't that cute, the girl you like defending you and arguing against her best friend for you. Ash wants her back on the streets, to return to her life of crime, to their empire. She says that she's found a home here, a family. And she broke away from the kiss-"

"They kissed!?" Alistair roared, and immediately everyone turned to him. Cecil looked at me with wide eyes, before mouthing Kia? I nodded, before I slowly stepped back into the crowd, watching as his temper broke loose. "She kissed him? He kissed her? How could she? I thought she- I thought we- wait, did you just say that to make me admit that I lo- that I like- ****, I can't even say it!"
