I watched in amusement as a screaming blur of pink and blonde fell out of the sky. It was Lady Celeste Greenswick, Alistair's younger cousin and daughter of Duchess Rachelle Greenswick née Selwyn. There was a roar as a dragon shimmered into existence. The shimmer dragon dove, Celeste falling neatly onto its back. Swooping down, it caught Dagen in it's claws, bringing him to the ground. The dragon landed in front of us, and a two girls slid off it's back. The dragon disappeared.
Dagen groaned, lying spread-eagled on the floor. "You guys are mean."
I shrugged. "Who said we were nice?"
Alistair smirked, lips curving up. "You kinda deserved it." Dagen grumbled to himself.
"Greetings, your Highnesses, Majesties, whatever." A boy appeared out of thin air, fully dressed. He bowed, and a girl ran over and smacked him on the head.
She was almost my height. Both of them had pale features, the girl with long, platinum blonde hair framing her pale face, and the boy with an unruly mop of hair so light it was almost white. The girl wore a shimmering white dress which ended at her knees. A pale pink circlet sparkled in her hair. Both of them seemed to sparkle in the sun. Of course, they were in the human form of the shimmer dragons.
"Pardon my friend," she said, "he lacks even the most basic of manners." I snickered. That frankly reminded me of myself. Alistair stared at me, perplexed. He had no idea what was happening. Poor boy.
"Hey, Ciana, mind giving me a hand?" Dagen was still lying on the floor, weakly raising his hand. So that's why the girl looked so familiar. She was Princess Ciana Shimmerdrake of Sarken, or Brighttail, in her dragon form.
The young princess snapped her fingers. "Lucas, go."
The young man, whose name I assume is Lucas, made a sound of discontent. "Why me? I'm a lord, for gods' sake. You can't boss me around like that."
Ciana snorted. "Of course I can. I'm your princess, and you must obey my every order."
Lucas grumbled, making his way to Dagen and yanking the prince of the night dragons to his feet. "There. Are you happy now, your Highness?" His voice cracked at the end of the sentence, and I tried not to laugh. "Oh, how I hate puberty." His voice was an octave higher.
"Did you seriously forget about me again?" A girl with bright blonde hair trotted over to us, plopping herself down on the floor next to me. I scooted over so far I was practically sitting on Alistair. Celeste's dress was bright pink, with sequins so sparkly they were even brighter than the shimmer dragon duo. I winced.
Alistair looked at me hopelessly. Should I tell her what happened while she was gone?
I shook my head subtly. No. She shouldn't know. She can't know.
Alistair finally decided to speak. "I suppose we did. We were all caught up with, uh, certain things." The tips of his ears reddened. "Oh, by the way, Celeste, meet Gavin."
Gavin walked out of the bush, startling Celeste. She wrinkled her nose. "He looks weird. But oddly familiar."
I raised an eyebrow. "He's my brother. So if you say he looks weird, that technically means you're saying I look weird too."
Celeste nodded sagely. "No wonder. He looks like the guy version of you, but way uglier. No offense." Gavin spluttered, extremely offended. "Hey! I'm speaking the truth!"
I smirked. "I may as well catch you up on several issues. Firstly, I'm a psychic dragon princess. That means I'm of higher status than you now, and you can't steal chairs from me anymore."
