Seeing your brother and the boy you like crashing on the couch together and smiling like idiots is always an odd sight to see. Especially when your brother has a spear in one hand and a shield in the other, and your crush has a sword by his feet and a lump growing on his forehead.
"Oh hey, Kiki, wassup? What brings you here?" Gavin laughed nervously, while Alistair wiped away a bead of sweat on his forehead.
I gave my brother an unimpressed look. "Are you both drunk?"
"Nope." They both parroted.
"Then what have you been doing?"
"Fighting?" Gavin squeaked. Interrogation was actually quite fun, especially when the people you're interrogating seem terrified of you.
"Elaborate, please." I pressed.
"So, I was just minding my own business, right? And then he dragged me out of the room and dumped me on the bed and knocked me out with his mind! Who even does that? Anyway, he brought me here and I saw a bunch of memories and stuff, and he was like 'hey, let's fight!', and I was like 'okay... ' and then he brought out this wicked sharp spear and this psychic shield of sorts, and then he proceeded to bash me in the head many many times." Alistair pointed to a dent in the wall. "You see that? He hit me, and then I flew into the wall, and it was like bam!"
I shot Gavin a disapproving glance. "Is he high?"
Alistair yawned. "Just tired and trying not to fall asleep."
I rolled my eyes. Idiots. "Dagen and Cole are back, and so is Berniss. Apparently she had this weird vision of sorts. She and Ciana also seem to be getting along pretty well." I waved at them. "See you in reality, boys."
I closed my eyes, willing myself out of Gavin's mind. My consciousness found my body leaning against the wall, exactly where I found it. Being able to have my body and mind in two different places was odd, but I was slowly getting used to it.
"Ah!" I heard a thump as Alistair rolled off the bed, hitting the floor. "S***, that hurt." I laughed in his face. "Not funny, Kia, not funny."
"Whatever. Can we just go?" Gavin had woken up with his face smushed against a pillow. "I want to see if Niss' vision makes sense or not."
"Yeah, me too." I lifted Alistair up with his mind, and he flailed around shrieking. "Calm down, Alice, do I need to give you a psychic hamster ball to make sure you don't fall?" Last time I did this, he was unconscious. That was a lot easier.
"I am the epitome of calm!" Alistair shouted. "I'm absolutely fine!" He calmed down, making it a lot easier for me to keep him balanced. "And don't call me Alice!" For that comment, I dropped him.
Good one, sister. Gavin grinned, lifting his hand up for a high five.
I gladly obliged. Thanks, brother.
"You two and your telepathic conversations." Alistair groaned, rolling over on his back. "I hate psychics."
Gavin raised an eyebrow, smirking. "You kissed a psychic and you liked it." I blushed, glaring at him for that comment.
The brunette smiled crookedly. "Can't deny it."
I scowled at both of them. "I'm still here, you know. Yes, I know I'm an amazing psychic, you don't have to say it. But we are in a hurry, so move your arses before I do it for you."
Gavin laughed, walking past me and flicking me on the nose. "So vain and demanding."
That left me and Alistair alone in the corridor. I put my hands on my hips. "Well? Aren't you gonna start moving?"
He smirked. "Why, so you can look at my ass? Not that I mind, of course."
I flushed red. "What? No! Of course not! What makes you think that?"
"I don't know, I have a sexy ass? At least that's what all the other girls say." He winked at me, green eyes twinkling.
I struggled to keep my reddening face under control. "Just move, Alistair."
He walked ahead, shrugging. "Your choice, Ki." I flipped him the bird, making sure to kick him on the way forward. "Ah, screw this. We're doing this my way."
I didn't even have the time to scream before he had hauled me over his shoulder for the second time. "Hey! Put me down!" He responded by slapping my arse. I kicked him in the chest, but he seemed completely unaffected. Before, he'd grunted, but it seemed like he'd built up some muscle. Dang it.
I broke down the walls in his mind. What is your problem? I screamed into his mind telepathically.
He grinned, tightening his grip on my legs. Working out really does help, you know. Your dad's brilliant. Men were pigs. Your entire family is cool. I whacked his back with a fist. He still needed to put me down. You're not going to win, you know. I sighed, relaxing as much as I could. There was no way I could win this.
When we arrived in the guest room, Terris was already there and looking annoyed, as per usual. "You two lovebirds are so late," she remarked, "I wouldn't be surprised if you stopped in the middle of the corridor to snog."
Alistair laughed, finally letting me go. "I wish we did. That would've been nice."
I glared at them, irritated and disgruntled. "We didn't. Some b**** wouldn't move when I told him to."
"Hey, you do realize that you could've bribed him with a kiss, right?" Gavin smirked. "I know exactly what happened."
Dagen covered Ciana's ears, chortling. "Careful, there are kids around."
Berniss scoffed. "I'm younger than Ci is, dumbass."
Dagen looked hurt. "Cole, babe, your sister is so incredibly mean. Where did she learn that from?" Cole laughed and flicked him on the nose.
"She's my sister too, remember." Alistair piped up. "Speaking of Berniss, Kia said you had a vision. What happened?"
"I saw a large eagle like creature. I think it was a roc? I'm not too sure, but it didn't look very nice." The blonde haired girl frowned. "I felt pain. Anguish. There was a lot of blood. I saw a dark haired girl screaming. There was a flash of glowing green eyes. They looked like yours, brother."
Alistair swallowed, trying to take it all in. "Anything else?"
The girl's crystal blue eyes snapped to mine, piercing into my soul. "I saw someone with short black hair and violet eyes. Whatever is going to happen will not end well for the Silverdrakes."
I gulped, unwilling to meet my brother's eyes. "So... what exactly does that mean?" I asked, fearing for our lives.
It was Terris who answered. "We must call the terra dragons, gather all the leaders." Her face was grim, expression solemn. "This means war."
