Why did the gods create Alistair to be such an idiot? Sure, he wasn't bad looking, but that didn't cancel out the stupidity. So of course, him being the idiot that he is, he just stood there and gaped like a goldfish. Naturally, I had to kick-start all the action. I guess it could count as feminism? Standing on the tips of my toes, I tilted my head towards his, while pulling his head down. Awkward. The only problem? I had no idea about what to do next. Last time, Ash had initiated the kiss, but I have to say that he wasn't a great kisser. Sorry, Ash!
I was about to pull away and probably run away as well when Alistair crushed my body to his, kissing me back almost hungrily. I couldn't think of anything except his lips on mine, his fingers tangled in my hair. There was a squeal from outside and a muffled thump. No doubt my mom was eavesdropping, and my dad had probably fainted. I didn't think Alistair heard, but if he did, he didn't care. Honestly speaking, I didn't either.
I pulled away first, breathless. Alistair opened his mouth to protest, but I put a finger on his lips. He stared at it, cross-eyed. "We still need to breathe," I reminded him gently, "much as I know both of us want to continue this, whatever it is." I didn't know what to call our relationship anymore. Friends? Nah, friends wouldn't snog each other. Friends with benefits? Not exactly that either. Although the kissing was nice...
"Fine." He smirked at me. There was an heated intensity in his emerald eyes that made a cold shiver run down my spine. "I'll try and refrain myself." His voice was low and rough when he spoke. "No guarantees." He pulled me into his warm and muscled chest, and I gladly snuggled in with a happy sigh.
Looking up, I spotted something silver and very shiny on a pedestal. It looked like a crown of sorts. "Hey, Alice, do you know what that is?"
He simply hummed in response, lowering his lips to my jawbone and placing soft butterfly kisses there. "Why bother knowing what that is when you have me?"
"Hey! You know me, I like shiny-"
Suddenly, the door slammed open, and my dad barged in. "Okay, kids! ENOUGH!" Mom simply laughed, murmuring something like "teenage love" under her breath. "If you two continue like this, Alistair, you aren't gonna be able to bring yourself back from the dead. And Kia, you should go back. I bet Gavin is in a tizzy and absolutely beside himself with worry."
I laughed, but wasn't bothered saying anything. Knowing my brother, he was probably about to throw a fit. "But I don't want her to leave!" Alistair himself seemed like he was on the verge of throwing a royal fit. He pouted, looking miserable. "Why can't she stay?" He begged my parents.
Dad gave Alistair a half sympathetic, half mocking look. "Well, kid, if she stays, you won't get anything done, will you?" He wiggled his eyebrows at us.
I nodded, agreeing with my father's words. "Very true. This boy gets distracted very easily." Standing on my tiptoes, I attempted to pat Alistair's head, and he swatted my hand away. Taking my chance, I wriggled out of his grasp, almost tumbling to the floor. Grunting, I caught myself before I fell. "Oof." It seemed like I was getting clumsier with every day I spent with the prince.
Darn. At this rate, I was gonna fail at pick-pocketing! Ash would be disappointed with me, but wasn't he already? I sighed.
"Speaking of distractions, what's that?" Alistair pointed up to the crown. He shot me a pout, and I shrugged helplessly.
Dad grinned. "Why, it's the crown of Silverra! It's one part of a three part set- there's the orb, which you may have already seen, the sceptre, which we left with Dagen, and the crown." He snickered. "Just before we were killed, we had the crown buried beneath the remains of the castle. You might need to use your telekinesis to locate it, and find one of the earth dragons to unearth it."
