"Now that Celeste's distracted and Alistair's out like a light, what do we do?" I asked.
"For starters, Ironfang, what did you do to Alistair?" Kia hissed. Her fists were clenched tightly, eyes trained on Alistair's unmoving form.
I wiped away the memory of our conversation and replaced it with a false one. Gavin replied casually.
"What?" Kia seethed. "Honestly, even Ash would've been a better brother than you." Gavin winced back, almost throwing Celeste and Alistair off him. He looked stung at his long lost sister's comment.
"Should I wake him up?" I pondered to myself. I decided against it, so we could finally discuss what lie we could make up to the king. Since Kia and Gavin were having a heated quarrel about whether to wake Prince Idiot or not, I decided to turn to Adara. "Do you think taking a memory from Felix's mind and replacing it with a new one would work?"
Adara shook her head slowly. His son may be dumbest of the dumb, but the warlock's probably as smart as Dagen, and Dae's the prince of stealthiness. Oh wait, he's king now. He'll realize that we tampered with his memory, and we don't want that to happen, do we?
I scowled. Adara was right. "But what will we tell Felix? His son got knocked out from the water pressure in Volna? It won't be enough to hide the orb. Wait. Where's the sceptre?"
Cece's got it. He's already in Lukar, but he and the rest of the Riders are waiting for us there. We need to try and make it look like we arrived at the same time. But what of the decoys?
My mind whirred as I tried to think of something, before a light bulb lit up in my head. "Let's just try something. Something Kia said about what Gabrielle did during her mini interrogation that honestly wasn't really scary." I cupped my hands before grabbing a rock from the ground. I squeezed it and thought of my mother, the president of the entire Dagat. Soon, the rock dissolved into putty, and I reshaped it into the likeness of the orb. Repeating the process for another decoy of the sceptre, I gave them to Gavin. "Do these look the same?"
Physically yes, but the orb and scepter radiates silver dragon essence. Gavin mumbled, holding it in his clawed hands and trying not to drop it. If there was a way to transfer a dragon's essence, a little bit of my own could make this believable.
What about the metafora and diaíresi spell? That might work. If you hold the two items with your psychic ability, your telekinetic residue will be left on the copies. If Terris utilizes the spells, it might be able to trick Felix.
"Uh, the what what?" I asked. "That's advanced imagery, I probably won't even be able to cast such a strong spell. I'm still a human, not a dragon."
You're half dragon. Remember that, Terris. The water dragons are known for their magic as well as their intelligence. Use that. Adara smiled at me, the way only a green fire dragon could smile. Gavin floated the two objects towards me, and I closed my eyes in anticipation.
"Gavin, this might sting a bit." I said, my hands outstretched.
"What are you going to do?" Kia yelled. "Don't hurt him!"
"What happened to the fact that Ash would've been a better brother?" I asked curiously, before shaking my head. "It'll be fine. Metafora and diaíresi are the spells for transferring and splitting energy or in this case, life essence. If the mage is not strong enough, they might either destroy or alter the life essence of either party. So let's hope Adara is right and I am." My hands glowed a silvery blue, and my ring glowed a similar color. Gavin began to choke, and as I moved to stop, he cut me off.
