I was rudely awoken by a certain Teresa Hunter barging into my room at the very asscrack of dawn.

"Morning, lovebirds!" She hollered, seemingly with no regard whatsoever to the poor unfortunate ears of me and Alistair. She had a wicked looking smile on her face. "Had a nice night?"

"No," I groaned, "leave me alone." Alistair was busy snoring behind me, with a heavy leg draped over both my legs and an arm tightly wrapped around my waist. His face was buried in the crook of my neck, and I could feel his warm breath against my skin. "On second thought, don't leave. Help me get out of this mess." I tentatively pried a finger off my arm, and he responded by tightening his grip. "I can't move."

Terris cackled loudly. "That's on you, Kia. Gavin's already up and running- he fell off the bed when Dante shadow-travelled into his room." I snorted. "Like brother like sister, I suppose."

I grunted. "I still need help, you know. I actually can't move."

"You have powers. Use them." She turned to walk out the door, but poked her head in once more, throwing armor on the bed with a clink. "We're meeting at six, by the way!"

I groaned. Gee, thanks, Teresa. That doesn't help at all.

You're welcome anyway, your royal psychic Highness! She replied before slamming the door shut.

Carefully, I levitated the blanket off the bed and onto the floor, where it formed a makeshift crash mat. I would need it later. Alistair shivered, pulling me closer. I took a deep breath. "I'm sorry."

I jabbed him in the ribs with my elbow.

He squealed like an injured pig, clutching his ribs and shoving me off the bed. Fortunately for me, I landed on the soft blanket with a yelp.

"Bloody heck, Kia! What was that for?" Alistair groaned, still clutching his ribs.

"Just a rather nasty wake up call!" I shouted back, my voice muffled by the blanket. "You just missed Terris barging in!"

He grunted. "Why do we have to wake up so early?"

"We have to go back to Lukar, remember? The war?" I added gently, levitating myself back up onto the bed.

"Oh yeah." We were silent for a few minutes. "I can't believe I'm going to fight against my father." He mumbled.

"I can't believe it either. But it's happening, and Terris is expecting us in a few minutes." I levitated his armor towards him, dumping it on his pillow. "You stay here, I'm taking the bathroom."

The armor was really something. I looked... different. The silver armor plastered against every inch of my body, silvery scale-like plates rippling with every move. It even had a holder for my dagger! A note fluttered out of a fold. This is a prototype that I made yesterday , it wrote in Terris's familiar neat handwriting, please try not to break it. It turns into a second skin when you shift into a dragon, if you ever do that. Gavin has one of these too. Cheers! I laughed. Terris really was one of a kind.

I swung the door open, only to reveal Alistair, facing the other direction. He was fidgeting with something on his pants, cursing under his breath. I froze as soon as I realized he wasn't wearing a shirt. That sent my mind into a frenzy. Didn't females stereotypically take longer to change than males? Why wasn't he wearing a shirt? Did he even have one on to begin with? And when did he get so ripped? I let out a flurry of profanities in my mind. Why was I even thinking about him?

I cleared my throat. "Hurry up, Alistair, we have to leave."

He grunted, finally turning around. "Sorry, the stupid zipper got stuck."

My eyes widened at the sight of his bare chest, and I mentally slapped myself. Nope, won't go there. I could almost hear Terris cackling in my mind for that comment. "We still have to go, you know."

"I'd get changed, if you weren't shamelessly staring at me." He smirked.

I rolled my eyes, trying to calm my racing heart and spiking hormone levels. "I'm going to head out first." I said shortly. "Meet me outside." I could hear him laughing at me even as I left.

Once I arrived at the fields, Terris frowned. Like me, she was dressed in a suit of armor, as was Dante and Gavin. Cole and Dagen stood aside, both looking grumpy. The terra dragons were nowhere to be seen- I expected they were gathering their own army for the fight, and would travel underground to Lukar, since they couldn't fly long distances. "Where's your boyfriend?"

I sighed, as both Cole and Gavin's stares bored into me, one curious and the other one furious. It was easy to guess who's was whose. Older brothers were a pain. "First, Alistair isn't my boyfriend. How many times do I have to say it to make it clear? Second, I ditched him. He said there was a problem with his pants zipper."

Terris snickered as Alistair charged out the door, huffing and puffing. "Oh gods, am I late?"

"Very." Adara announced. "We've been waiting for you two longer than we've been waiting for Dagen, and he takes notoriously long to wake up." She shifted into her lean green fire dragon. Let's go! She roared. Gavin morphed into his stocky silver dragon, motioning for Alistair and I to hop on. Dante took a deep breath, bones cracking in his body as they stretched, allowing for him to change into a sleek night dragon. Cole took a running jump onto his boyfriend's back as Dagen changed into a dragon as well, with Cole nestled snugly on his back. Terris yelled, and Adara shot forward, soaring to the sky. The rest of us followed suit, flying towards the horizon and the oncoming war.

It turned out that Lukar wasn't that far from Drakon, as we arrived in less than an hour. The sun had only just began to rise. "Dagen, Cole, this is your stop!" Terris shouted. "Cole, you can heal the injured, and Dagen will be your assistant!" They nodded, spiralling down. "Kia, Gavin, Alistair, we're almost there. Dante, get ready to set up the shadows!" The black dragon nodded.

Kia and I will also help block people's minds. They won't see us coming. Gavin assured her. Go find Liam and his people, we'll infiltrate the palace. Terris shot us a thumbs up, and Adara dived, disappearing through the clouds.

"Well," I said with a nervous laugh, "it's up to us now."

We soared into the clouds. Here goes nothing! Gavin announced, before he folded his wings in and dropped.

I screamed as we plummeted down towards the ground, half in fear, half exhilaration. Alistair, however, was terrified. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" He howled, fear in his big emerald eyes.

Just kick starting the adrenaline rush! My brother said with a laugh.

Thankfully, he pulled up mere metres before we hit the ground. Alistair clutched on to my waist, looking a little green. "I'm fine with flying, but not with dropping. Please don't do that again." Gavin and I snickered as we landed. "I'm serious! Be glad I'm not puking all over the place."

Admit it, that would be a funny entrance. Gavin levitated himself above our heads. Don't look up, or it'll be awkward- "actually, there's no problem at all!" He lowered himself back down to the floor, seemingly pleased with himself. "Terris's invention really does work!" His suit of armor melded to his skin, like mine. "This is awesome," he gushed, "I keep leaving my spare clothes on me when I change and then they break and I'm stuck as a dragon until someone finds me clothes. I need to ask her for proper clothes like this."

I snickered. "Stop squealing, brother. We've only got a matter of minutes before the walls go up and we're trapped outside." He grunted, denying the fact that he was squealing. Alistair laughed, patting us both on the heads. In response, I gave him a whack on the head.

Gavin sighed. "I guess I'll just go first... "

"We're going in together." We looked at each other, and walked through the gates of Lukar Palace.
