Harriett & Ryland

Rylands POV

Today was just like any other day I was dropping Harriet off at school, we talk the entire drive there and I always get to see her pretty smile. It's my favourite thing about her and she knows it.
I usually only drop her off in the school parking lot but today I wanted to walk her into school to her locker. But I had to ask her first so when we were half way there I decided to ask if she'd like that.
"Hey babe" I said
"Yeah?" She ask me
"What do you think about me walking you to your locker today?" I ask
"Really?" She ask
"Yeah I mean we've been together for a while now and I know if I were attending here I would be doing it so what do you say?" I said and ask
"That would be nice" she told me smiling though i seen it wasn't one of her regular smiles it seemed as if something was wrong but I knew not to question her
"Great" i reply.

We start a conversation about something else then the next few minutes we arrive at her school. I look for a spot to park in and quickly see one. Once I parked I got out of the car and walked around to her door opening it for her. She tells me thank you and I reply saying she is welcome. She grabs her bag before I close the door and then she takes a deep breath before letting me take her hand.
"Are you ok?" I ask
"Yeah I am fine" she tells me
"Are you sure?" I ask again
"Yeah I'm sure" she replied.
I brought her into a hug and she wrapped her arms around my waist. I held her tightly as if it was the last time i would be able too. I gave her a kiss on the top of her head and we stayed like that for a few minutes.
"What was that for?" She ask
"I just wanted to give my girlfriend a hug" I told her and she smiles and this time it's a sweet smile.
"Aw you're so sweet" she tells me
"You deserve it" I tell her. I give her a quick kiss on the lips then we do start walking inside.

When we get through the doors all eyes are on us and she hides her face in my chest blushing.
"Baby why are you blushing?" I ask as we keep walking
"Everyone is staring" she said
"Let them, they just want to take a break from their own boring lives" I told her making her laugh.
We get to her locker and she tells me thank you
"No problem baby girl" I told her
She gives me a hug which I return and when we pull back I kiss her cheek before telling her that I will see her later and she says okay.

When I leave I walk back to my care and when I get in I notice that Harriet forgot her phone. I pick it up and quickly go back to give her her phone and I see a big crowd around her locker. I am confused and push myself through the crowd and see Harriet on the floor she was getting kicked and punched. I go to help her by pushing them off her and throwing them a few punches making them fall. I see a few girls were doing
it also so I shove them out of the way and help Harriet up
"What the hell is wrong with you all?!" I ask and yell
No one said anything which made me more angry. I turn to Harriet.
"Why are you here Ryland?" She ask me
"I came to give you your phone, I am glad I noticed it was in my car" I told her
"Thanks" She said
"Would you have told me if I didn't come back?" I ask her when she shakes her head no I give her a sad look.
"Why not?" I ask
"So you wouldn't worry" she tells me
"I'm always going to worry, you are my princess and I'm going to protect you" I tell her and she hides her face in my chest. I wrap my arms around her. After a few minutes she pulls back and everyone is still staring
"Stop staring and get back to your own lives and leave her alone!" I yell and they see the anger in my eyes they got scared and went back to class.

I took Harriet back to my car and I took her back to my apartment to clean up all her cuts and bruises. When I was finished we watched a movie not mentioning what happened as I seen she didn't want to talk about it so I knew not to keep asking. In the moment that I found her being hurt I made a promise to make sure it never happen again.
