Comforting you

Ryland is your best friend but what you don't know is that Ryland secretly likes you. You don't know that as you have a boyfriend but Ryland doesn't like him.

"Hey Y/N" Ryland says walking up to you at school
"Hey RyRy" You reply
"Are you hanging out with Jace later" Ryland asks
"No he's busy" You reply
"So uh do you want to hang out later" Ryland asks in a nervous tone
"Yeah Ry I'd love to" You told him
"That's great" Ryland says happily
"Ry you never have to ask if I'm hanging out with Jace. I'll hang out with you any day" You tell him
"I'm glad" Ryland says.

Ryland and his girlfriend has broke up a few months ago because she was taking him away from being friends with you. So he broke up with her.
The school bell rang for everyone go to class, you and Ryland had a different class than each other. But you had the same class as Jace so you were happy about that.
Through the whole class Jace wouldn't talk to you. You two would normally talk quietly to each other. When the bell rang you left and went to talk to him.
"Hey Jace" You say
"Hi" He replies not really paying attention
"Is everything ok" you asks
"Yeah everything is fine" He replies
"Are you sure, you don't seem to interested in talking to me" You say hurt
"Yeah well, ask Ryland" Jace says
"What's Ryland got to do with this" You ask him confused
"He likes you ok. He likes you more than a friend. Everyone can see it except you" Jace says frustrated
"He does not" you say
"Yes he does. Haven't you noticed that he will jump to your defence as soon as someone says anything, that he'll drop everything he is doing to hang out with you, or how about he asks you if your hanging out with me before asking to hang out with him. I seen him before last class started" Jace said annoyed
"That's just being polite" You say
"No that's showing he has interest in you. You need to see he likes you and make a choice" Jace said
"You are not seriously asking me to choose between you and Ryland" You ask annoyed
"I am" Jace says before walking away

For the rest of the day you think about what Jace had told you. You were upset  that he had asks you to choose between him and Ryland. You never thought you would have to make that choice. Well to be honest it isn't much of a choice but you never thought you would have to be in that position.
You see him at the end of the day and walk up to him.

"Hey Jace" You say
"Hey, so did you make your choice" He asks
"What do you want me to choose. To stay with you and stop being friends with Ryland" You ask
"No to be with me or him" Jace said
"Ryland and I aren't like that" You say unconvincing
"You and Ryland flirt all the time without noticing. Well he can see it you can't because it's not right when you have a boyfriend" Jace said
"He and I joke around that's what friends do" You say
"I know that, but you need to see there's more to you and Ryland than just friends" Jace told you
"What are you saying" You ask
"I'm saying that I can't stay quiet anymore I figured it was just a crush he had so I let it slide. But it's more than that so we are over" Jace said walking away from you and leaving the school.

You notice you are the only one left and slide down the lockers so you are on the ground. After a few minutes you hear a familiar voice. You see Ryland there sitting beside you and you take a deep breath before you tell him everything that had happened. After a few minutes you see him looking slightly guilty
"What" You ask
"He's right I do like you more than a friend. I'm just sorry it tore you and him apart" Ryland said
"How long have you liked me" you ask him
"Long time I dated Sara to try and get over you. It didn't work." Ryland said
"What now" you ask
Ryland gives you a kiss on the top of your head before standing up. He tells you that you can just be friends if that's what you want but he does want more although he will wait.
You smile at that and stand up beside him. You think for a few minutes then smile again before walking over to Ryland and kissing his cheek.
"I think we should give us a try" You say and Ryland smiles. He pecks your lips before you two walk home
