Chapter 16

JUSTIN'S POV

"Mom, Tori might have broken her ankle when she tried to do a stop on her ice skates and fell on top it. We're driving to the hospital right now," I told my mom over the phone in a panicked tone.

"Okay. Tell me what hospital and I'll leave right now," she rushed out.

I told her the name of the hospital and then she hung up because she was going to start driving. Tori was crying in the backseat next to Chaz and Christian. Then I remembered something that I learned about sprained ankles. I didn't know if it would work because Tori's ankle might be broken, but it's worth a shot. "Tori, lift your ankle up on one of the guy's legs to elevate it," I said.

"She can't move it, dummy!" Chaz told me. Oh yeah, she can't move her ankle. I guess I really am stupid.

When we got to the hospital, Chaz carried Tori inside and I told a receptionist what happened. She said she'd get an x-Ray done ASAP. A nurse came and took us to a room with the x-Rays in it. A few seconds after we got in, my mom barged through the door. "Is it broken?" she asked.

"We still need to take the x-Ray ma'am," the nurse, Rachel, told her.

"Okay," my mom replied while sitting in a chair next to me, Ryan, Chaz and Christian. Her face was pale and she looked like she'd been crying.

"Mom, what's wrong?" I asked.

"When your child is in the hospital, it's very nerve racking. When you broke your foot, I think I was like this too. You'll understand when you're older."

"Okay. I'm going to get you some water." I went to buy a bottle of water for my mom. When I got back, I gave the water to her and started to scroll through Twitter. One of the trending tags was #JustinMeetAvalanna. Who's Avalanna? I clicked on the YouTube link and what I watched, made tears come to my eyes.

Avalanna was a five year old with a rare form of brain cancer called ATRT. She was at her hospital and there was card board cut out of me. She did a wedding with my card board cut out and all the nurses and doctors call her Mrs. Bieber. There also was a video clip of her singing my song, Baby. Avalanna was so cute! I just had to meet her. "Mom! I have to meet this girl!" I exclaimed making everyone jump. I had my earbuds in so no one else could watch the video, I guess I'd forgotten that.

My mom watched the video and started crying. She said that she'd make sure to talk to Scooter about me meeting her. Then Tori came back and they said that she'd broken her ankle; a clean break. Rachel put her ankle in a cast and then my mom bought some crutches from the hospital for Tori. "Well that a crappy ending to what was supposed to be a fun day," Chaz said.

"Thanks Captain Obvious," Tori said in a snarky tone.

We all chuckled except for Chaz who said,"Yup. Justin, she definitely is your sister; you both have an attitude." I slapped him in the arm, probably harder that I meant to. "Ow! What was that for?"

"I did it extra hard because Tori would slap you, but she can't because of her crutches."

We walked out and my mom took Tori home because it would be too hard to fit Ryan, Chaz, Christian, Tori, her crutches, and I in my car. They also asked me to pick up a pizza. Also known as...have Christian go inside and get it because I don't want to be seen by paparazzi.

When Christian was inside, I got a call from Caitlin. "Hey wh-"

"Is Tori okay?" she asked frantically. I forgot to tell her. Oops! Wait...if I didn't tell her, who did?

"She broke her ankle. How did you know that she was in the hospital?" I had a suspicion that she was going to say what I was dreading to hear.

"Paparazzi." Suspicion confirmed.

"How?" I asked while practically shouting. Ryan and Chaz gave me questioning looks, but I just mouthed the word later to them.

"They snapped pictures of you, the guys, and Tori walking into the hospital. Chaz was carrying Tori and she was crying. Then they got pictures of all of you plus your mom walking out. Tori was on crutches with a cast on her ankle, so I decided to call you."

Just great! When everything about my blow up last week about my sister starts to blow over, this happens! I can never get a break, can I? I sighed. "Thanks for telling me, Caitlin. It's better coming from you than some reporter person on the news."

"Justin. Don't do anything stupid."

"I won't. I promise." Then we said goodbye and ended the call. I really hope that I can keep that promise.

"Pizza!" Christian broke the silence by getting in the car. "Wait. What's wrong?"

"No idea," Chaz said. "Justin got a phone call and then got all mad."

"The paparazzi! They were taking pictures of Tori when we were coming out of the hospital!"

"Dude, I thought you were used to it," Ryan said.

"I am. But Tori isn't. And when they mess with family, it really ticks me off."

When we got home, I walked in and smelled the fumes of nail polish. I set the pizza down on the table and walked to the bathroom where the smell was strongest so that I could close the door. "Oh. Hey Justin." I looked and saw Caitlin, her friend Ashley, and Tori in the bathroom doing their nails.

"Hey. What are you doing here?" I asked Caitlin and Ashley with a puzzled expression on my face. Ashley was pretty, but not as pretty as Caitlin. She had curly blond hair which was pulled up into a high ponytail, bright blue eyes, and olive colored skin. She was wearing faded skinny jeans with a green and pink plaid shirt. The shirt was unbottoned so that you could see her white tank top that hugged her body. The sleeves were rolled up a little bit below her elbows.

Caitlin was wearing skinny jeans with a black top that said Love Will Lead The Way in white lettering. Jeez she was hot.

"Justin," Caitlin said. Crap, I was zoning.

"Yeah?"

"I said that we came here to hang out with Tori. Make her feel better." She's so sweet.

I walked over to her, wrapped my hands around her waist, and kissed the top of her head. "I love you Caitlin."
