JUSTIN'S POV
It's now Friday and Tori is signed to Island Deaf Jam, same as me. But, the crappy thing about it is that she can't put Human out as a single. The label wants to see where her songwriting is going and then she can possibly make an album. She wants to go to the studio, but for some reason, Scooter won't let her go. All she wants to do is figure out the beats and riffs for a few songs! So last night around seven, I told Scooter that I just wanted to go to the studio to record... alone. He dropped off the keys to me and then he left. But, here's what really happened:
"Tori," I walked upstairs to her bedroom and knocked on her door. "Do you want to go to the studio?"
I heard her get off her bed and the click of crutches on the floor, signaling that she was walking to the door. "How'd you get permission?" she asked me as she opened the door.
"I told Scooter I wanted to go to the studio alone. He swung by to drop off the keys to the studio. But, I'm taking you and we are getting a few of your songs recorded even if we have to be there all night."
"Really, you're serious about this?" she asked as she crutched to her dresser, slid open a drawer, and grabbed her songbook.
"Dead serious. I need to tell Mom and then we'll leave."
I walked down the hallway and to my Mom's room. After I knocked and walked in, I told here what I was about to do. "You know how Scooter's being stupid and won't let Tori record?" I asked. She nodded. "I told Scooter that I want to go to the studio to record alone. When in reality, I'm taking Tori and we are going to work on her songs."
"Are you sure that's such a good idea, Justin? What if Scooter finds out?"
"What he doesn't know won't hurt him," I said with a shrug. "Don't tell him what we're doing okay?"
"Okay, but if you get caught, I'm going to say I thought you two were at a movie or something like that."
"Thanks Mom. I'll text you when we're leaving the studio."
"Okay. Bye hun, love you," she said as I began to walk of the room.
"Bye Mom, love you too." Then, I closed the door and walked back to Tori's room.
"C'mon. Let's go," I said while walking into her room because the door was open.
She crutched out her room and we went down the stairs, out into the garage, and into my car. "How are you feeling about driving?" I asked Tori as I began driving to the studio.
"I never really thought about it," she said. "I'm fifteen in three months and I haven't thought about it. But, now that I do think about it, it's kind of nerve racking."
"I failed the first time I took my test. I got a question wrong, so, I failed. Once I was done with the test and when Mom picked me up, I got out of the car after we pulled over and just screamed at all the passing cars. I was so frustrated that I didn't pass the first time, but I passed the second time, so that was good."
"And so that won't happen to you, I'm going to quiz you on a few things."
"Okay," she said. "Let the questions begin."
"What does a solid line on both the left and right lanes mean?"
"I have no idea Justin," she answered.
"It means that you can't pass. For example, if there's solid lines on both lanes, no one can pass."
"What if there's only on solid line?" she asked. I could tell by here voice that she was beginning to get confused.
