Shanaya's words were continuously roaming in my mind leaving no space for any other thought. It felt as if she has put it into the words what I have been thinking but not saying. It's been days now since we talked about that. Mason and I are not on talking terms. We only communicate through mails. He hardly comes to office and when he comes, he usually remain in his room.
Fortunately Mason is in the office today. May be I should talk to him but what if he rejected me again. Would I be able to handle that rejection once again?
'Try.' Said my heart.
'Don't be a Stupid.' Said my mind.
Whom should I listen to? Mind or Heart? I agree with both of them.
"You are thinking about him, again!"
"I can't help it, Alice."
She closed her eyes for few seconds.
"I know. It will be okay."
Should I ask for her opinion? I thought.
'Sure. Go ahead.' My mind said.
'No. She will kill you.' My heart said immediately.
'See, heart is afraid.'
'No. I'm not.'
Why can't my heart and mind agree with one another. Things would have been so easy then.
I started scrolling through my phone when a picture of Me and Mason came.
I was smiling at the camera while he was smiling at me.
Damn! How can Mason say that it was all nothing. I can see love in his eyes.
Yes. I'll talk to him again. I have to do this much at least.
People do so much in love least I can do is give another chance to our relationship.
After deciding that concertrating on work became really hard. I could not think properly. Why did I fell in love in the first place? Things were so much better before.
"You wanna go home or not?" Alice asked me.
"I have little work left. I'll leave after that."
"Do you want me to wait for you?"
"No. No. You go. I'll complete my work asap and will leave."
"Okay. As you say."
She left after that and in a while the whole office was empty. I did not see Mason coming out which means that he is still in his cabin.
I took a few deep breaths and walked towards his office. I don't know what to say to him or how to start a conversation with him. I don't know what will I do once I will enter in his room.
'It's now or never Elena.' I finally knocked on the door. Once, twice. Then a voice came from inside.
I opened the door.
Mason was standing by the window. His back towards me just like that day when I went to his place. The day when everything changed. I shook my head. I do not want to think about ut right now.
"Mason." He turned around. Certain emotion in his eyes that he recovered quickly.
"Yes, Elena?" I don't like it when he calls me by my first name.
"I needed few confirmations from you about this Mexico project."
He looked at his watch.
"We can do this tomorrow. You do not have to stay back in the office."
"It's urgent. We have to send it to the client today."
He nodded and sat on one of the chair and asked me to take a seat beside him.
We were discussing about the project but my mind was somewhere else. I don't know how to start that conversation with him.
It took us more time than expected to discuss about the project. It was 8 P.M when I finally looked at the clock.
He too looked at the time.
"It's getting late. You should."
I nodded. I stood up from my seat and walking towards the door.
"Elena?" I heard him.
I immediately turned around.
"How will you go home?"
"I have got my car."
"Okay. Bye." He gave me a small smile.
I was standing there looking at him for a few minutes trying to find my Mason in this person.
"Bye." I left.
Downstairs I was trying to start my car but failed. The engine was just not getting started.
'Damn it. What will I do now?'
I took my bag from the car and locked it again.
I was on the road looking around for a cab.
My phone got off too.
Should I go back to office and ask for Masons help?
No. You are no Damsel in Distress.
I could see some guys with drinks coming my way. Trust me I'm not the one to get afraid easily but hey prevention is better than cure.
I started walking on the side path. I could hear few voices from behind. I took out my pepper spray from the bag.
I walked a few steps when somebody placed a hand on my shoulder. I immediately started spraying on his face but regretted it.
"Damn you, Edwards!"
"Mason, I'm sorry. I thought it's.. doesn't matter."
"Ouch. My eyes." He was rubbing his eyes.
"I'm sorry." I took my water bottle out and helped him in washing his face.
"I'm so sorry."
"It's burning."
"Sorry." After a while he finally started feeling better.
His eyes were still closed though.
"Wait." I tried to open his eye and started blowing so that he will feel better.
I did not realize how close we were. We were just a few inches away looking into each others eyes.
"Mason."
"Shhh." I did not say anything we were standing there like that only.
He then placed his hand on my cheek.
This moment felt so special. It felt as if my Mason is back. Inch by inch we were coming closer; butterflies growing in my stomach and suddenly the lights flashed on my face and I pulled away.
Mason looked behind. It was his car only. The driver came out.
"Sir. Your gradfather was calling you." He nodded and then looked at me.
"Come. I will drop you."
"No. It's fin.."
"Let's go." He walked ahead and I followed him to his car.
"John. Please take care of her." He said to his driver.
"Give him the keys. He will get your car repaired."
"It's alright. There isn't any need for this."
"Can't you listen to me once?" He looked at me.
I looked away. "I did." I whispered.
Neither of us said anything.
"Keys?" He said after a few minutes.
I handed over them to him after that Mason dropped me at my place.
We did not say anything to each other on the whole way. He dropped me and went home but what happened earlier gave me a little hope that may be My Mason is back.
