I slumped into my seat as soon as I reached my desk. Sitting there with my head in my hands.
"Elena?"
"Not right now, Alice." I did not even looked at her.
"Did you see him?" She continued.
"Why the hell is this happening? What have I done that all of this is happening?"
"Elena, you.."
"No. What is he doing here any way? Out of all the companies he only decided to work here. There are so many top companies out there and
.."
"It's the best though." Alice stated the fact.
"I don't care. Does it look like I care about it right now?"
"Why are you behaving like this?"
"Like What?"
"Like it matters to you. Like Nate's presence has affected you."
"Nothing's like that."
"Oh C'mon Elena Edwards. I know you better than that."
"You should sew your face right now."
"Fine. I'm shocked to see him here. I'm already going from this Mason's drama and from nowhere Nate has joined this office." I dropped my hands on the table with a thud and everyone around started staring at me like I was some nutcase.
Alice sat beside me and held my Elena.
"Why are you thinking so much? Will you tell me something with all honesty?"
I nodded.
"Do you still have some feelings for Nate?"
"What? No. Not at all. If I have feelings for anyone right now then it's Mason. Nobody else." I closed my eyes and today's scene started flashing in my mind. I opened my eyes immediately.
"Then why are you getting so worked up? Nate being here should not matter to you, okay?"
"I guess you are right."
"I'm always right." She winked at me.
"Sure. Thanks."
"No problem. Now let's finish our tasks for the day."
While we were leaving from the office I saw a glimpse of Mason in his room. He was laying in his chair with his eyes closed but not peacefully as I could see many lines on his forehead. For a moment I so wanted to go inside and push all his worries away but only pushed that thought away considering how he cheated me. I saw someone's glimpse on the glassdoor.
"Is that Mason Anderson?" It was Nate.
"Yes." I turned around. "You have joined this company but did not know who the boss is? Amazing."
"Well in my defence someone else took my interview and gave me this job and when I asked them about the boss , they told me about some guy of my age only is running this company right now. Did you know when you joined here?"
"No. At that time it was Mason's grandfather who used to run the company. Actually this one is their new venture. Their main companies are other ones's which Mason's dad is looking after."
Nate made an 'o' shape.
"What were you doing here by the way staring at him like that?" He asked me after a pause.
"I was not staring at him. I wanted to speak to him but then I saw him lying in his chair like that so I stopped outside his office."
He shrugged his shoulders. "Alright."
I started walking away. 'Control yourself, Elena. Don't make it too obvious.'
I arrived at the parking lot. Nate came too. He was talking the whole way but my mind was somewhere else. Even after I caught him cheating at me, I am still not able to forget him. I was not like this before nor I like myself this way. Wish I never have gone to Mexico with him.
"Are you even listening?" Nate was standing in front of me.
"I'm sorry. I.. Well, no. My head is aching."
"Shall I drop you home?"
"No. I will go by myself." I smiled at him.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, absolutely."
"Okay. Goodbye. See you tomorrow." He hugged me then.
It felt a little weird hugging Nate. Earlier it was okay but now after so much time it felt a awkward.
"Yeah, Bye."
I walked away from him after that and he walked towards his car.
I wish I could ignore both of them right now. It's not like I still feel something for Nate but it is just wierd to see him again after such a long time.
I opened my car, sat inside. I took a few breaths to clear my mind and left the parking lot not thinking about any of them anymore.
