PART 3- THE DINNER DAY (Part-1)

At Ishwari Niwas

As the new day dawned Dev got up from his bed, he had not caught a wink of sleep the whole night, all he did was toss & turn on his bed in the hope of sleeping but that never happened, the decision that he had taken was weighing on his mind. He had second thoughts about it but then convinced himself that it was for the better for everyone. Freshening up he made his way down to the living room, as he came down he could see the kids having their breakfast just as Ishwari was making her way out of the Puja room after her daily prayers.

"Arey Dev, Tayar ho gaya tu, Chal aa jaa main tera nashta laga deti hoon" Ishwari said as she saw Dev descending the steps.

"Arey Maa, Tu baith na. Main DK ko bol deta hoon" said Dev and instructed DK to serve him the breakfast. As he sat down Suhana spoke up with a glint in her eyes "Papa, aaj main bohut happy hoon. Aaj humari poori family ek saath Dinner karegi. I am so happy". As she said that something pricked in Dev's heart but regaining his composure he said "Aapki happiness ke alava mujhe aur kuch nahi chahiye Suhana". Suddenly he remembered something, turning towards Ishwari he said "Arey Maa, main tujhse kal poochna hi bhool gaya tha, Tuney Neha, Riya aur Nikki ko bula liya hai na". Ishwari replied with a happy voice "Haan Dev, maine unko kal hi phone karkey bula liya tha, acha hai wo sab maan gayi. Kaafi dino ke baad apney betiyon se milungi main". As the kids heard Ishwari say that they jumped up in joy. "Main pehli baar apney teen bua se milungi" said Suhana merrily. Seeing the joy on his daughter's face Dev broke into a smile as well "Haan beta tum aaj sabse se milogi, chalo tum dono jaldi se khatam karo, main tum dono ko school chodtey huey office jaoonga" he said.

As Dev got up, he went towards his mother touched her feet & hugged her, he said "Chalta hoon Maa, Apna khayal rakhna". Ishwari was a bit surprised, especially at the way Dev said those words, somewhere she felt a defeated tone & a certain sadness in his voice. She said, "Wo to main rakhungi Dev, Lekin tu aise kyun keh raha hai". Dev suddenly became alert, his emotions were becoming too apparent, he composed himself and said "Arey Tu bas do din pehle hospital se wapas aayi hai Maa, aur aatey hi ghar ke kaam main lag gayi, isliye keh raha tha ki aaram kar aur apna Khayal rakh, ghar key kamon ke liye kaafi log hai". Ishwari seemed satisfied with his answer, she blessed him and hugging her once again Dev along with the kids left the house.

In Dev's Car

"Papa, mainey dadi se suna hai ki Nikki bua kafi cool hai, meri toh unse khub jamegi" said Suhana, she just could not contain her excitement at the thought of meeting her aunts for the first time. "Haan Suhana, wo kafi cool aur naughty hai, sabse choti jo hai. Sirf wo hi nahi Riya bua bhi kafi cool hai, tumhe pata hai unki ek beti bhi hai, tumhari choti behan" said Dev. "Haan Papa, dadi ne mujhey bataya tha, aarohi naam hai na uska. Main bohut excited hoon ussey milney ke liye" said Suhana excitedly. She added "Mujhe Neha bua ke baarey main bhi kuch batao na papa". There was a sad smile on Dev's face as Suhana mentioned about Neha as he replied "Neha bua bhi bohut achi hai Suhana, tumhey pata hai jab Riya aur Nikki Bua choti thi unhoney hi unka sabase zyada khayal rakha tha". Suhana turned towards Dev and said "Aap unsey bohut pyar kartey ho na Papa". A tear escaped Dev's eyes, in a choked voice he replied "Haan, kaash main unsey keh pata". Suddenly there was silence in the car as the kids observed Dev, they could make out that he was sad, suddenly Golu perked up and said "Toh aap aaj unse keh dena BigCha, wo sab aaj aa rahi hai naa. Toh aap unse keh dena ki aap unse kitna love kartey ho". Dev smiled, his little ones always seemed to gauge his mood better than others and tried to cheer him up if they found him sad. He glanced towards them and smiled as his thoughts went back to the day when he first held Golu, The last seven years were difficult for him but he was  the bundle of Joy who helped him sail through those times and then Suhana, the very first time he met her at Golu's school he felt a connection with her, then the day he got know her as his child and the subsequent hurt when she addressed him as "Mr.Dixit" instead of Papa which started his journey from being "Mr. Dixit" to her Papa. His thoughts were brought to a halt as they arrived at the School. Getting down he kissed and hugged the kids and said "Accha Bachon, achi tarah se padayi karna aur kisiko zyada pareshan mat karna, theek hai, bye". The kids nodded with a smile, hi-fied him and ran away as Dev looked at them longingly before driving off.

In Bose House

Bijoy was pacing up & down in the living room with a frown on his face, he was still unsure about going to the Dixit house. "Itna restless kyun ho rahe ho Bijoy" said Asha as she walked down with Dadi after completing their afternoon siesta. "Main restless nahi ho raha hoon Asha, main bas worried hoon uss ghar pe jaane ke liye. Pata nahi iss baar kya karenge wo log humey insult karney ke liye" said Bijoy. "Bijoy aisa kyun keh raha hai tu, jab Ishwari ji ne khud humey bulaya hai toh aisa kyun karengi" said dadi. "Mujhey uss lady par bilkul vishwas nahi hai Maa, wo kuch bhi kar sakti hai, pata hai na aap logon ko usney humarey Sona ke saath kya kiya tha" said Bijoy agitatedly, any talk about Ishwari seemed to snap his patience making him angry. "Bijoy, Uss baat ko saat saal ho chuke hai aur tumhey bhi pata hai ki saari galti sirf unki nahi thi, kahin na kahin humari bhi galti thi" said Asha as Bijoy looked at her annoyingly, before he could continue she added "Aur aaj jab sab theek hai toh hum ye sab baatein phir se kyun kar rahe hai, tumhey bhi pata hai ki Dev aur Sona ye sab Suhana ke liye kar rahe toh humey unn logon ka saath dena chahiye"

"Kaki bilkul sahi keh rahi hai Kaka" said Jatin entering the Bose house. "Arey Jatin Beta, tum yahan kaisey" asked Asha. "Arey main bhi toh aap logon ke saath Ishwari Niwas chalunga na, Sona ne bataya nahi apko, Dev ne mujhe bhi invite kiya hai" asked Jatin. "Accha, ye to bohot acchi baat hai beta, chalo uss Dev Dixit ne kuch toh accha kaam kiya" said Bijoy as Jatin chuckled while Asha and Dadi sighed in annoyance. He continued "Aaj dinner ke baad main Soha ko yahan leke aa jaunga. Waise bhi wahan gaye usey do haftein hog aye hai toh abb main usey yahan do haftey apney paas rakhungi, waisey bhi pata nahi unn Dixits ne meri poti ko kya ulta seedha sikhaya hoga".

"Baba, aisa kyun keh rahe hai aap, Dev kya apni beti ko kuch galat sikhayega aur rahi baat Ishwari aunty kit oh wo apne poti ko ulti seedhi baatein kyun sikhayengi" said Sonakshi as she descended the steps. "Sona Beta, wo" before Bijoy could continue Sonakshi said "Please Baba, aaj wahan kuch mat kahiyega. Main abhi Suhana se baat kar rahi thi wo kitni khush thi ki aaj uski poori family ek saath Dinner karegi, please wahan aisa kuch mat kariyega ki wo Sad ho jaye" Before Bijoy could reply Jatin said "Arey Sona, tu itni tension mat le main hoon na, main Kaka ko wahan kuch nahi karey doonga, hai na kaka" as he winked at Bijoy who just chuckled at his talks. Just as Sonakshi was about to reply her phone rang, seeing the caller id she excused herself and went away.
