PART 29 - DON'T GIVE UP

Dev was hurled up in the air and the very next moment HE CRASHED ON TO THE GROUND and WITH IT HER WORLD CAME CRASHING DOWN AS WELL and at that moment the only word that escaped her mouth was,

"DEEEEVVVV"

For a moment after that everything blurred before Sonakshi as she saw Dev crash on to the ground while his body went limp due to the impact, she turned blank and felt it was a dream but the screams of Misha and Badi Maa along with the people around broke her trance. She could see Badi Maa and Misha run towards Dev as blood oozed out from his head and body. Sonakshi got up and ran "Deevvv" she cried as she reached him.

Taking his head on her lap she shook him to keep him awake, her dress turning red because of his blood, his hands were bruised and legs which bore the maximum impact along with his head went limp. He was quickly losing his consciousness as he lost blood at an alarming rate while Misha was calling the people around for help. Meanwhile Badi Maa called her Doctor friend in Shimla, since she was well known in and around Shimla because of her philanthropic work she knew most of the doctors in and around the area, quickly apprising her of the situation she asked her to send an ambulance. The doctor advised her to not let Dev get unconscious else it could be dangerous if that happened.

All this while Sonakshi was crying vigorously trying to keep Dev awake, she slapped him, kissed him, hid his bloodied head into her bosom as he barely could keep his eyes open. Right at that moment it started raining as her tears and his blood mixed with the droplets of rain. It was as if even Nature was shedding tears at her grief as Sonakshi's thoughts went back to her nightmare, she shuddered in fear as she spoke "Dev, Dev. Please get up, see your Sona is here. Please be awake Dev don't sleep, please try to be awake" she cried as he smiled faintly through his pain barely keeping his eyes open.

With the help of a few people they carried Dev to their car as Sonakshi got on to the middle seat along with Dev, his head was on her lap and legs were adjusted accordingly, all this while Sonakshi never let go of his hand which she had clutched tightly. Misha got on to the back seat while Badi Maa settled at the front asking the driver to reach the hospital quickly, she told Sonakshi not to let Dev get unconscious as her thoughts went back to the day when she met with an accident and how Dev kept her awake.

"Dev, Dev Utho" she said and slapped him as his eyes were about to close but the slap did its job as he looked back at her while she continued "Dev, hum bas pohunchney waley hai, bas thodi der, be awake Dev, please be awake" she said as Dev once again was slowly drifting away as spoke again "Dev Golu aur Suhana tumhara kab se intezaar kar rahey hai, tum aisey unhey chodd key nahi jaa saktey, bas thodi der aur Dev" as the mention of kids seemed to have the desired affect on him, he tried to keep his eyes open remembering his Champ, Sonakshi could see few tears form in his eyes and then she did what she thought was the best at that moment, she bent down and kissed his lips trying to get a reaction out of him but so weak was he that even if he did want to he could not respond, as Sonakshi broke the kiss she could see him close his eyes as she slapped him again and then spoke again.

"Dev, Tum kehtey they naa ki tumney Suhana ka bachpan, uskey saat saal miss kiye toh main tumhey batati hoon Dev, main Suhana ke pichley saat saal tumhey batati hoon" she said hoping that the mention of their daughter, the want to know about her childhood would keep him awake just as Dev tried desperately to keep his eyes open.
