The next day was a Sunday. A day to chill out, and as the lazy teenager I am, I ended up waking up just after lunch. As I headed downstairs for a bite of brunch I noticed a small note taped to the fridge which read:
Morning Billy, or I expect it's afternoon for you,
I've had to head to the office for an emergency appointment, feel free to do as you please for the day, I'll be home around 5 this evening.
Love, Sam.'Guess I'll have to entertain myself for the day' I thought, as I poured some chocolate puffs into a bowl and topped them with milk. I took a seat at the dining table, and automatically pulled out my phone.
A text from Lola, recieved three minutes ago, read:
Hey Billy! Hope you're well. I was wondering if you wanted to meet up this evening to just go for a walk and chat? xx
Oh, my, gosh! Two kisses! I was surprised she wasn't angry about the kissing incident where our braces magically became interlocked. I sure was a lucky guy. With a quick smile, I opened up the text and replied:
Hiya Lola, I'm good thank you. I'd love to meet up this evening, I'll meet you at your house if you like? 4 o'clock? xx
I clicked send. The returned two kisses felt more meaningful than was probably necessary. Within a few seconds she replied:
Sounds great, see you later! :) xx
I gobbled down my chocolate puffs, washed up the bowl and quickly raced up the stairs. I only had three hours to get ready, and I had to look perfect! I jumped in the shower, brushed my teeth, used the hair dryer on my head, attempted to style my curls into a somewhat presentable style, changed into a pair of black skinny jeans and a white polo shirt, then checked the time. It was half past one. I still had two and a half hours. Fantastic.
The next couple of hours went extremely quickly, I managed to finish all my homework as well as upload a new selfie to Instagram, which took a lot of careful precision!
Before leaving the house, I sent a text to Sam letting him know where I was heading, then left to meet Lola.
It only took me ten minutes to walk to Lola's house. I carefully knocked on the door, and it was answered be a lady, presumably Lola's mum.
"Hi, I'm here to meet Lola" I smiled, trying not to look shifty, or nervous.
"Ah, you're Billy, aren't you?" she replied, smiling back at me.
"Yes" I replied, still smiling.
"Yes, I remember you actually. You're brother is the dentist, isn't he?"
"Yes" I replied again. Why was Sam brought up with almost everything?!
"Lola!" the lady shouted inside the house. "Billy is here!"
Within a moment of seconds, Lola had arrived at the door, looking cute as ever!
"Hey Billy! It's great to see you again!" she giggled sweetly, smiling with glee.
"Bye guys, be safe" said Lola's mum, shutting the door behind us as we walked out of her driveway.
"I'm so glad you messaged me Lola" I began, as we walked down the street. "I was so worried you'd be angry about the braces incident."
"I'm not angry at all Billy, don't worry. I'm just glad you're brother isn't mean" she giggled. "Although, he did seem kind of annoyed."
"He was annoyed at me, not you" I smiled affectionately, not wanting her to feel bad. "He's always kind to my friends" I laughed slightly.
"Yeah, when I go in for checkups and to have my braces tightened he's always so sweet" she smiled.
"That's good to hear" I replied, feeling slightly jealous.
I knew Sam more than anyone else, so why was it he was always nicer to other people rather than me, his brother!
"Sam get's really stressed sometimes" I admitted, trying to keep the conversation going.
"Well I guess it's a stressful job" Lola joined in, making me think.
"Good point" I replied.
"Billy?! Where are your braces?" Lola said suddenly, staring at my teeth.
"Oh" I laughed. "Sam's letting me have them off for a week or so."
I continued telling her the story about me getting my tooth pulled, and then we walked in silence for a bit, until I picked up the courage to slowly hold her hand. I prayed rejection wouldn't take place, and luckily for me, it didn't! She held onto my hand tightly and smiled up at me. Her hand was so warm and soft, she made me so happy.
We arrived at a road crossing, to which I pushed the button to trigger the traffic lights. When the green man popped up, we began to cross the road, yet to our surprise, a lorry came zooming round the bend. The driver was out of control! I pushed Lola to the side away from the lorry. That was the last thing I could remember...
