Today was the first day I'd been back at school for a whole week. It felt so strange to be back and everyone was asking where I'd been. I didn't want to tell them the truth so I just said I'd been on holiday, which they all seemed to believe and accepted.
Unfortunately, Kyle hadn't seemed himself all day, which I believed I knew the reason to.
My toothache seemed to be getting slowly worse throughout the day, but I tried my very best to deal with the pain.
Lola seemed to be ignoring me all day though, which I found highly unusual. Everytime I was about to approach her, it was as if she magically disappeared into a crowd of people, out of plain sight!
At the end of the school day, I managed to catch her just before the school gates. I jogged up to her and placed my hand on her shoulder, pulling her round to face me."Hey Lola, I really missed you!" I said whilst smiling, leaning in for a hug. But to my surprise, she gently pushed me away and rolled her eyes. "Lola? What's wrong?" I asked, as I felt my heart race faster than a rabbit's.
"Billy! You've been gone for like a whole week, and you didn't even bother to text me to tell me where you were! Don't you understand how worried I've been?!" She sounded very angry.
"I'm so sorry Lola" I said, looking at her softly in the eyes. "It's just that something happened and I just didn't think properly. I admit it, I'm an idiot. I'm sorry."
She looked down at her feet, then up at me and hugged me tight. "It's okay Billy, I forgive you. I can't stay angry at you, it's impossible!" she winked as she pinched my cheeks and wiggled them slightly, causing the both of us to giggle. "But, can I ask you a favour?" she questioned.
"Anytime" I answered, sincerely.
"I've got an appointment to get my braces tightened at your brother's office now. My parents are both at work and I really don't want to go on my own. Can you please come with me?"
I didn't even need to ponder my answer! Obviously I wanted to be there for Lola when she needed me, it's the duty of being a loyal boyfriend! "Of course I can! I have an appointment with my brother in a little while anyway, so it's convenient" I grinned.
We began to walk to my brother's dental surgery. I confessed to Lola everything that had happened during the past week, because she rightfully deserved to know the truth. She was very supportive about the whole thing and made me feel a lot less insecure about my experiences.
We finally arrived at Sam's office after a long walk consisting of holding hands and talking. We entered through the front doors and approached the front desk, to which I found Jasmine working."Hey Billy" she smiled. "You're here early, your appointment with Sam isn't for another hour and a half yet."
"I know" I laughed. "I'm just here with Lola who has an appointment now."
"Ah, so I see" Jasmine replied, leaning over the desk slightly.
On Jasmine's behalf, Lola's small!
"Hi Lola" Jasmine smiled, causing Lola to return a very shy 'hello'. "So that's an appointment for...Lola Griffin, to get your braces adjusted with Doctor Lockwood, correct?"Lola and I both looked at each other confused. "Who's Doctor Lockwood?" I asked.
"Oh, that'll be Adam" Jasmine smiled. "I forgot you're on first name basis, Billy" Jasmine giggled.
"But, I usually see Doctor Chespin" Lola stated, looking slightly worried.
"Since Adam is working here full-time now, they both agreed that Adam would deal with all the orthodontics, whilst Sam deals with all of the normal dentistry" Jasmine informed us.
"Oh. Okay" Lola replied half-heartedly.
"You seriously have nothing to worry about, Lola" I reassured her. "You've met Adam before anyway haven't you, when we got our braces interlocked" I laughed. "Trust me, compared to Sam he's so kind and gentle, you're pretty lucky really."
